Albertus Lewis, 23, from Columbia, South Carolina was initially charged with obstruction of justice following the death of 20-year-old Mayra Sanchez. The charges have been updated to include murder.
Richland County Sheriff’s Office said Sanchez was left outside the Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia on July 5, where she was pronounced dead by doctors.

Sanchez’s family said they had taken out a restraining order against Lewis two months ago

Deputies claimed Lewis put Sanchez in the wheelchair before fleeing the scene.
Sanchez’s mother Guadalupe Sanchez told WLTX that her family had a restraining order out against Lewis at the time of the murder.
They had warned him against visiting their home in future
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said Lewis has been charged with murder and obstruction of justice. He is being held in the Alvin S Glenn Detention Center.
Members of Sanchez’s family have opened a GoFundMe page to pay for her funeral. So far the page has raised almost $2,000.
