Christopher Matthew Henderson, 42, and Rhonda Jean Carlson, 44, were charged two years after his wife Kristen Henderson was found dead in New Market, Alabama.<br />
Found dead alongside Kristen on August 4, 2015, was her son Clayton Chambers, eight, her mother Carol Smallwood, 67, and her one-year-old nephew Eli Sokolowiski.<br />
Henderson was indicted on 19 counts of capital murder and Carlson was indicted on 18 counts,On July 28, according to court records.</p>

Police said Henderson and Carlson killed Kristen and her four family members before setting fire to Carol Smallwood&#8217;s home.<br />
Kristen was either shot to death or stabbed multiple times, according to the indictments obtained by <a class="" href="http://www.al.com/news/huntsville/index.ssf/2017/08/bigamist_murder_madison_county.html#incart_river_home" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">AL.com</a>. Clayton was stabbed to death and Carol Smallwood was shot to death using a .22-caliber gun.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Henderson and Carlson allegedly cut his unborn baby out of Kristen&#8217;s womb before stabbing the girl multiple times, court documents state.<br />
Sokolowiski was also stabbed, but it was determined he died of asphyxia during the fire, according to investigators.<br />
Henderson and Carlson were both indicted on 18 counts of capital murder. Henderson received an additional charge for violating a protection order.<br />
Kristen Smallwood Henderson was the second of Christopher Henderson&#8217;s two wives, the couple having married on Sept. 26, 2014. They were in the midst of a divorce at the time of the slayings. Kristen Henderson had learned her husband also was married to Carlson.<br />
He had filed for divorce from Kristen on July 14 and Kristen filed a protection-from-abuse order, claiming he had hit her.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Henderson wed Kristen in September 2014 in Fayetteville, Tennessee. He wed Carlson a year earlier in February 2013.<br />
Authorities theorize that Henderson and Carlson went to Carol Smallwood&#8217;s home, where Kristen was living, and murdered the family before setting it ablaze.<br />
When firefighters arrived at the scene, relatives of Kristen showed them surveillance footage that showed Henderson and Carlson entering the home.<br />
Carlson was wearing gloves in the footage and carrying a gas can, according to investigator Eugene Nash Jr.</p>

The family members had accessed the footage from their cellphones. Kristen had installed the camera just a week before after obtaining the protective order.<br />
A backpack that Henderson had carried when he came home the day of the fire was found in his mother&#8217;s home with a lock pick and duct tape inside, Nash said.<br />
Investigators also found a .22-caliber rifle in Carlson&#8217;s Jeep, as well as ammunition, a pistol, and other evidence, he testified.<br />
Both Carlson and Henderson have been behind bars since they were arrested in August 2015. They are being held without bond.</p>

In Carlson&#8217;s Jeep Liberty, which was also be seen in the surveillance footage, investigators found a .22-caliber rifle, a pistol, ammunition and other evidence.<br />
Henderson and Carlson each are charged with 18 counts of capital murder because the killings were committed during the a first-degree burglary, first-degree arson, killing two or more people and in the process of killing a children younger than 14, the indictments state. Additionally, Henderson is charged with a 19<sup>th</sup> count of capital murder because he violated a protection order when he killed his wife, court documents allege. The couple both have been jailed since they initially were arrested in August 2015.</p>
