Joshua Cohen was charged with murder on Sunday night, and has been remanded in custody until Monday, when he will appear before Hendon Magistrates Court.
The suspect’s late father Asher, was one of the founders of the renowned bakery business, Beigel Bake in Brick Lane, London. The 24-hour shop is an institution, famous for its salt beef bagels. Just three weeks prior to the murders, probate was granted on Asher Cohen’s estate only naming only his two older sons Nathan, 30, and Daniel, 34, as directors of the company.

After discovering the murder victims, police issued a public appeal to find the suspect who suffers from severe mental health issues including paranoid schizophrenia. He was arrested following a tip-off from someone who spotted him in a nearby park.
Sunday, police forensics officers removed items from the converted garage at the end of the family’s garden, where the alleged killer is believed to have lived.
Indications are that Joshua Cohen had a significant drug problem as selfies on his Facebook page show him smoking. Other photographs show drug paraphernalia, including what looks like buds of cannabis.
Another image shows a chopping board with a herb grinder and cigarette rolling papers.
The Cohen family own a famous bagel shop in Brick Lane, East London. The Multi-million dollar business established by the suspect’s dad had just gone through probate, but left control to his two older brothers, leaving him out.

Daniel’s wife today paid tribute to the tragic mum and her daughter, who would have celebrated her 34th birthday on Wednesday.
Deborah Cohen, who jointly ran a cake-making business with sister-in-law Hannah for the last five years, said: “She was absolutely selfless and did everything for everyone else.
“She was the greatest cook. we went over there every Sunday to eat together as a family and she made the most amazing food.”
Of her mother-in-law, Mrs Cohen added: “She was loving and generous and a wonderful mother to her five children.”
A message on their company’s Facebook page today said: “I’m very sad to say, there will be no more cakes by Coco Cakes.”

A friend of the family, who did not want to be named, described them as “really nice” and said his children went to school with Hannah’s siblings Nathan and Rachel.
He said: “It’s horrible, I couldn’t believe it when my son sent me a link to the story.
“My kids went to school with Nathan and Rachel, they used to get the same coach to a Jewish school in Essex.”
He added: “They’re a really nice family but I know Josh has struggled for years with his mental illness.
“The dad only died recently too. He owned a bagel shop on Brick Lane.
“It’s a terrible shock.”
A neighbor, who did not want to be named, said he saw the suspect on Friday night.

He said: “He was wearing a big red hooded fleece with a logo on it and grey tracksuit bottoms and was heading towards the tube station, which is where other people said they saw him wandering around.
“He was a bit of a character in the area because of his mental problems.”
The neighbour added: “I live right across the road, I’ve spoken to him and sat on the wall and had a cigarette with him – it was that type of relationship.
“He used to live in the house but there were problems, so he moved to an annexe at the back of the house.”
Another local said he regularly saw Joshua acting strangely. He said: “He used to do unusual things. I recently saw him on the street cutting his hair off with an electric razor.
“He lived there on his own. I used to see his friends coming and going.
“I saw the news about what happened and I was in shock.”

A recent addition to the neighborhood said she heard a commotion at the home at about 9pm on Friday.
Sara Veiga, 33, said: “I had the window down and I heard a lot of screaming and shouting. Then lots of police came. I was in shock after. I only came here a month ago and I thought this was a quiet place.”

It is believed the gruesome scene was discovered by one of the older Cohen brothers Nathan, when he returned home on Friday night.
Despite the tragedy, the usual queue of punters stretched out of the door at Beigel Bake Saturday, with five staff members serving customers.
Det Insp Ian Lott, from the Met Police, said: “This was a devastating attack on two women in their homes. Our investigation is ongoing.”
