Authorities in Oregon said they have charged a female minor and two men in the murder of her father. The 15-year-old girl has been arrested for killing her father in Southern Oregon. in collusion with her boyfriend and an older male friend.
Aaron Friar, who lived in Medford, was found dead Monday afternoon where he had been dumped over a dirt embankment.
Medford police said Tuesday they believe 50-year-old Friar was killed with a weapon while he was sleeping and two other men helped daughter carry out the dastardly deed.
15-year-old Ellen Friar, and her two accomplices – her 19-year-old boyfriend Gavin MacFarlane and their friend 22-year-old Russell Jones, then stole Aaron Friar’s vehicle, using it to haul the body to a dirt embankment, police sources said.
Russell Jones was also charged with murder after authorities say he helped his friend MacFarlane and his underage lover, Ellen Friar kill her father in his sleep
Investigators recovered Friar’s body Monday afternoon on East Antelope Road, located in the southern part of the state. An autopsy is pending.
Police say Friar’s daughter has been in a sexual relationship with the 19-year-old MacFarlane.
Detectives believe that caused tension between the couple and the father.
MacFarlane, Jones and the 15-year-old girl have been charged murder, robbery and tampering with evidence.
Ellen is being charged as an adult, the District Attorney’s Office told broadcaster KTVL, an unusual step but not unheard of in Oregon especially given the circumstances of the case.
MacFarlane is also charged with third-degree rape.
According to their Facebook pages, Ellen Friar is a student at South Medford High School and plays in school band. MacFarlane who graduated from the same South Medford High School this year, had started classes at Rogue Community College this fall. he is a member of Circle Youth Ministries on Facebook and appeared in pictures of the Junior High-College ministry at Joy Church Medford. Neither MacFarlane nor Ellen Friar have any prior criminal record in Oregon, court records show.
The oldest of the trio Jones on his Facebook account says he went to Crater High School in Central Point and describes himself as “self-employed.”
Jones was convicted in 2014 of third-degree sexual abuse in Yamhill County involving a child younger than 16, court records show. He was sentenced to five years probation and ordered to complete evaluation and treatment, according to court records.
The trio was arraigned Tuesday and scheduled for preliminary hearing Oct. 10 for charges of murder, first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit murder and a misdemeanor charge of tampering with evidence. MacFarlane was also charged with first-degree rape.
MacFarlane and Jones were booked into the Jackson County Jail. Ellen Friar was lodged in Jackson County Juvenile Detention Facility but also appeared in court Tuesday.
