<p>A former police officer who stalked her friend&#8217;s husband and hacked his social media accounts to try and wreck their marriage has been jailed.<br />
Ashley Boyd from Moodiesburn, Lanarkshire, became obsessed with Kevin O’Connor, stalked him on social media, posting about a phantom intimacy between them, disparaging his marriage and even persuaded a friend to give a false statement to police in a bid to cover her tracks. Problem was Kevin is married to her friend and former colleague Rhona.<br />
Boyd, 27, masquerading as Kevin O&#8217;Connor sent messages to his friends with slurs about his &#8220;unhappy marriage.&#8221;<br />
She changed his relationship status on Facebook to &#8220;single&#8221; and posted an offensive comment about his wife Rhona on his Twitter account.<br />
When the twitter hack blew up, Boyd, a mother-of-one then persuaded a friend to give a false statement to police accepting blame for the Twitter post in a twisted attempt to get off the hook.</p>

<p>In her bid to take over the couple&#8217;s life, Boyd on one occasion took the liberty of cancelling a hospital appointment for Rhona &#8211; who she used to be her friend &#8211; while she was working for Police Scotland, <a href="http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/crime/stalker-cop-jailed-after-targeting-11301237">the Daily Record </a>reports.<br />
Rhona became friends with Boyd when they worked in a Boots shop, although the friendship deteriorated by the end of 2013. She joined Police Scotland when she left Boots in 20115. She quit the force in December<br />
Boyd pled guilty to stalking and causing the couple “fear and alarm” between June and September last year.<br />
She also admitted a charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice.<br />
She was sentenced to 11 months and granted a five-year non-harassment order to protect the O’Connors, Friday by sheriff Paul Crozier.<br />
He branded Boyd’s actions “evil and calculated to be destructive”..<br />
Noting that the defendant admitted to lying &#8211; until a second background report was compiled &#8211; insisting that she had been in an intimate relationship with Kevin. She later accepted it was untrue: “Your conduct throughout this whole sorry episode has been destructive, self-serving and manipulative,” sheriff Crozier said.<br />
Speaking afterwards, Rhona said: “It has been an absolute nightmare, my health suffered, I have been ill constantly.<br />
“This is punishment, we will be able to move on.”</p>
