A 27-year-old fugitive with a skull tattooed on his face was arrested in California on Thursday, nearly one month after he escaped custody.
Corey Hughes, 27, was part of a work crew in Stockton on Nov. 27 when he escape and managed to elude capture for several weeks despite his distinctive facial features.
He was apprehended at a home in Stockton, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.

“Escapee Corey Hughes is ‘home’ for the holidays! And, ‘home’ is the San Joaquin County Jail!” the sheriff’s office wrote on its Facebook page.
Authorities received a tip early Thursday that Hughes was at a residence on Don Avenue in Stockton. When no one answered the door, a K9 unit was deployed to flush the fugitive. Hughes was taken into custody.
He was taken to a nearby hospital before being booked into jail.
Hughes was set to be released in February on a weapons charge, but now is facing more time behind bars.
