Eugene Villani [photo], in a videotaped confession, his killing of Efijenio Deletorre in a four old cold case

An ex-convict who fatally stabbed a homeless man inside a New York park turned himself in Saturday, more than four years after the unsolved murder, Bronx police said.
Eugene Villani, 41, walked into the 50th Precinct stationhouse in Kingsbridge at 1:15 p.m. and admitted he killed Efijenio Deletorre.
The 62-year-old victim was stabbed multiple times in the chest inside Van Cortlandt Park on June 27, 2013, according to police sources.
Deletorre was a park regular who collected and sold lost golf balls, The Riverdale Press reported after the killing.
In a videotaped confession, Villani claimed the victim was trying to rob him. He is charged with murder and weapons possession, cops said.
Villani served two years in prison for attempted assault, and was released in 2016, according to the New York State Department of Correction website. Before that, he was behind bars for six years for attempted burglary, records show. In between those prison stints, Villani was incarcerated in Florida, according to the state’s Department of Correction.
He was held without bail after his arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court.
