<p class="mol-para-with-font">Four teenage boys have been charged with murder in an Ohio juvenile court in connection with the Byrd&#8217;s death. Byrd was struck by the sandbag thrown from an interstate overpass on I-75 in Toledo on Dec 19.<br />
Prosecutors filed the charges Tuesday in Toledo against William Parker, 15, Demetrius Wimberly, 14, Sean Carter, 14, and 13-year-old Pedro Salinas, , <a class="" href="https://www.toledoblade.com/Courts/2017/12/26/Four-Toledo-teens-charged-with-murder-after-sandbag-tossed-from-overpass.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">The Toledo Blade</a> reported.<br />
The teens initially were charged with the juvenile equivalent of felonious assault.<br />
Twenty-two-year-old Marquise Byrd died Friday at a hospital, but the victim&#8217;s family demanded they be charged as adults.<br />
The Warren, Michigan, man was sitting in the front passenger seat of a car traveling south on Interstate 75 in Toledo when a sandbag smashed through the windshield in Mid-December.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">The Lucas County Coroner&#8217;s Office says Byrd died of blunt-force trauma injuries to the head and neck.<br />
Police and a prosecutor have said the teens threw other objects from the overpass that night. Byrd, the father of a one-year-old boy and was engaged to be married, was on his way to visit friends in Toledo.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">King said Byrd was like a brother to her.<br />
When asked to describe him, she said: &#8216;Young, energetic, outgoing, lovable. He had a bright smile.&#8217;<br />
Officers received a call at 10:10pm on December 19. They responded to the scene and saw the teenagers leaving the area after the incident.</p>

So far, Ohio prosecutors said there are no plans to transfer the teens&#8217; cases from the juvenile department to adult jurisdiction. Even as the teens appeared distressed during the arraignment, King said she has no sympathy for the delinquents and wants authorities to charge them as adults.</p>
