This still from a surveillance camera shows one of the crooks posing as a delivery worker in order to gain access to the home
A band of armed robbers employed the ruse of a package delivery to con their home into a home during the past holiday period.
The nightmare began when a 62-year-old man answered the door for a woman pretending to deliver a package to his apartment on Southern Blvd. and Leggett Ave. in Woodstock around noon on New Year’s Eve, cops said. The deceptive delivery however, turned sinister when two armed crooks burst into a Bronx home, pistol-whipped the homeowner and zip-tied 8 people inside, police said Friday.
The nightmare began when a 62-year-old man answered the door for a woman pretending to deliver a package to his apartment on Southern Blvd. and Leggett Ave. in Woodstock around noon Dec. 31, cops said.
Surveillance footage released Friday by police shows one of the robbers hiding in the blindspot of the victim’s peephole as the ‘fake’ package deliverer waits for the door to open.
Immediately after the door is opened, a man pushes in followed by an armed accomplice.
Inside the home the masked-men reportedly, bound 8 members of the homeowner’s family and pistol whipped the homeowner in the face.
The home invaders snatched $5,500 and personal documents from the victim and ran to a getaway car primed and ready to go on Bruckner Boulevard, according to police.
Surveillance cameras outside the building show the bandits dashing to a black BMW sedan with dark tinted windows that peels around the corner and speeds off before the thief in the backseat has closed his door.
