Adam W. Purinton was sentenced in Johnson County District Court, where he pled guilty in March to a charge of first-degree murder for killing Srinivas Kuchibhotla.<br />
Judge Charles Droege ordered Purinton to serve a maximum sentence on all three charges and to run consecutively, the Kansas City Star reported. He won&#8217;t be eligible for parole for 77 1/2 years.</p>

<p>Adam W. Purinton pled guilty Tuesday in Johnson County to a charge of first-degree murder in the February 2017 killing of Srinivas Kuchibhotla.<br />
Purinton, 52, of Olathe Kansas, also pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted first-degree murder for shooting Alok Madasani, a co-worker of Kuchibhotla&#8217;s, and Ian Grillot, who had come to the aid of the two other men.<br />
Prosecutors have said that Purinton verbally harassed Kuchibhotla and Alok Madasani, another Indian man. Purinton started taunting the men by yelling racial slurs at them, witnesses said, before he was thrown out of the Olathe business.</p>

<p>A victim impact statement by Kuchibhotla&#8217;s widow, Sunayana Dumala, read in court said she wished Purinton &#8220;had the ability to see beyond my husband&#8217;s skin color and the beautiful and kindhearted person underneath it.&#8221;</p>
