A couple who survived the deadly white supremacist car attack during clashes in Charlottesville last summer finally got to tie the knot on Saturday.
Marcus Martin, who was pictured mid-air in a powerful photo taken when the Dodge Challenger struck on August 12, married his fiancée Marissa Blair in Gordonsville, Virginia, during an outdoor ceremony paid for by well-wishers.
Martin, 26, pushed Blair, 27, out of the way when the car struck. He suffered a broken leg while the couple’s friend, 32-year-old paralegal and fellow anti-fascist protester Heather Heyer, was killed.

The nation woke up to the disquieting image of Marcus Martin, who was airborne in a powerful photo taken when the Dodge Challenger plowed into a crowd of protesters on August 12, 2017.
Martin suffered a fractured leg, but survived to marry his fiancée Marissa Blair in Gordonsville, Virginia, during an outdoor ceremony on Saturday paid for by well-wishers.
The couple had delayed their big day in the aftermath of the Charlottesville debacle and the death of their friend, Heyer.
The group of friends joined other civic minded individuals demonstrating against thousands of white supremacists who had massed in the Virginia town to protest against the decision to remove a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, last year August.
‘He always said he would do any and everything to protect me and he proved it,’ Blair told NBC29.
‘It proves hate won’t win and it proves that there are more good people in the world than there are bad and that love will win.’

Teaming up with 30 vendors, Moore set out a memorable ceremony that was staged and executed at no cost to the couple.
Heyer’s mother, Susan Bro, led tributes to her daughter by releasing a butterfly in her memory, while attendees wore purple, her favorite color.
Memories of the wedding was recorded for posterity by videographer Floyd Joynes of Katie & Floyd Studios with M Harris Studios taking the pictures, all free of charge.

Sealed with a kiss
After Martin and Blair kiss after exchanging their vows in front of a trellis decked with purple flowers in honor of their late friend, they exchanged their first kiss as a married couple.

Last year, Blair recalling the events of August 12, said in an interview: ‘We were saying, ‘Whose streets? Our streets!’ and just having a good time,’ she said. ‘We were right at the intersection, deciding to go right or left. We went left.
‘We hear a commotion from the top of the street. It happened so fast. I felt myself shoved out of the way. [Martin] had pushed me out of the way.

The ceremony proved emotional at points for the couple, who wanted to use it as an opportunity to remember their late friend, as it was pointed out that all donations gathered at the wedding will be donated to the Heather Heyer Foundation

‘It was so fast. All he could think was to push me. He saved me then he was under the car. I checked myself and then immediately thought, where’s Marcus?
‘I started looking where the car had hit people. I saw his hat had blood all over it but he wasn’t there. I found him with no blood on him.
‘We were taken to the hospital and I overheard someone say that the heavyset woman who they were doing CPR on had died.
‘I started asking around but I knew that it was my friend Heather. She had been standing right in front of Marcus.’
Blair continued: ‘It was senseless. People said we were wrong for being there but it was that guy [driver] who was wrong. Why would anyone think that it’s okay to do this? He rammed into us.’
James Alex Fields Jr., the man police say drove the car that killed Heyer and injured Martin, has been charged with murder.
