<div>Joseph James Pappas, the man accused of fatally shooting a renowned cardiologist in revenge for the death of his mother 21 years ago, transferred the deed of his home to a woman days before the attack, sources say.</div>

<p class="meta">62-year-od Pappas signed two properties over to Jeanette Sarah Spencer, an Ohio resident, on July 23 by Legal Express Texas.<br />
Pappas had asked them to complete the paperwork on July 19 and acted strangely after launching proceedings, it has been revealed.<br />
It was finalized on July 23, three days after Dr. Mark Hausknecht&#8217;s murder.<br />
On July 20, Pappas is accused of following Dr. Mark Hausknecht on his bicycle as he cycled to work in Houston, Texas, and fatally shooting him.<br />
Pappas was named on Wednesday by police who say the attack was an act of revenge.<br />
The Motive for the murder, investigators say is that in 1997, the killer&#8217;s mother Julia Walker, died on Hausknecht&#8217;s operating table.<br />
Houston Police are yet to find Pappas who they say is armed, dangerous and suicidal.</p>

<p class="meta">It’s not normal for people to be so antsy about transferring a property.<br />
&#8216;It just indicated he was premeditating this before it ever happened,&#8217; Donaldson said.<br />
It is not the first time Pappas has signed property over to Spencer, who also goes by the name of Mullet. Reportedly, the second time he signed the property over to her. The first time he attempted the estate transfer was in February 2017.<br />

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Pappas, who is said to be suicidal and armed with multiple weapons, had allegedly been plotting to kill Dr Hausknecht since the death of his mother, Julia Alice Walker, while in Dr Hausknecht&#8217;s care in April 1997 at the age of 69.<br />
Pappas, who was unmarried and had no children, once worked as an armed deputy constable for Harris County Precincts 2 and 7.<br />
He had lived alone in his family&#8217;s three-bedroom house since the death of his father, Joseph James Pappas I, in 2010.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Pappas served with law enforcement for 30 years until 2013, first as a paid cop and then as a volunteer reserve. He also owned an old police car, a Ford Crown Victoria.<br />
Known as &#8216;Joey&#8217; to friends, Pappas worked as a real estate owner for a Houston-registered firm under his own name. He also had a business application to run a concealed handgun academy, according to records seen by <a class="class" href="https://www.click2houston.com/news/what-we-know-about-joseph-james-pappas-ii" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Click2Houston</a>.<br />
Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said his officers received a tip about Pappas after appealing for information in the wake of the doctor&#8217;s death.<br />
&#8216;One of the tips included he fact that the suspect&#8217;s mother was a patient of the doctor and died during surgery over 20 years ago,&#8217; he told a press conference on Wednesday. &#8216;It appears that this may be a 20-year-old grudge,&#8217; he added.<br />
On Tuesday night, before police obtained an arrest warrant for him and before his name became public, he sent a text message to a friend suggesting that he might kill himself.</p>

He was wearing a white hat, white shorts, a dark polo shirt and was carrying a black backpack.<br />
Hausknecht was on his way to work at the Houston Methodist hospital when he was targeted and stalked by the killer for several blocks. Finally, after riding past the target, the murderer turned on his bicycle and fired several shots in Hausknecht&#8217;s direction.<br />
Hausknecht was shot twice in the torso and once in the head and was pronounced dead in hospital.</div>

After his murder, Dr Hausknecht was praised by the Bush family who described him as a &#8216;fantastic cardiologist&#8217; and &#8216;good man&#8217;.<br />
&#8216;Mark was a fantastic cardiologist and a good man. I will always be grateful for his exceptional, compassionate care.<br />
&#8216;His family is in our prayers,&#8217; the former president said in a statement.<br />
The doctor&#8217;s widow has since spoken out to call for stricter gun laws.<br />
Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo urged members of the public to keep a look out for Pappas and call 911 if they saw him.<br />
&#8216;I don’t know when he decided to do this, but I’m very familiar with how this murder was committed and there was a lot of planning that went into this,&#8217; he told a press conference on Wednesday.<br />
&#8216;We need to find this guy. This man is dangerous, this man is capable, this man has some skills.<br />
&#8216;We know that he had a lot&#8230; had firearms, more than one,&#8217; Acevedo said, adding that they were &#8216;absolutely&#8217; certain he is to blame for the doctor&#8217;s death.</div>
