An elderly couple face jail after a feud reportedly over a fence between their neighbours escalated to a horrible shooting killing one man.
Jasper Peeples, 69, [left], and his wife Barbara Peeples, 73, from Scotland County, have been charged with shooting their neighbours.
James Chestnutt, 68, and his wife were allegedly shot by the Peeples.
An elderly couple, Jasper Peeples, 69, and wife Barbara Peeples, 73, face jail after a feud with their neighbours escalated to a horrible shooting which resulted in the death of a man.
According to Scotland County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jennifer Sadovnikov, the shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. Saturday on Crandall Street in Wagram, North carolina.
The dispute between the neighbors had reportedly been going on for many years.
Lieutenant Jessica Sadonikov said Mr Chestnutt tragically died on Sunday.
His 70-year-old wife was also taken to hospital after the shooting and is expected to make a full recovery.
Sadonikov said Chestnut’s wife called 911 to say they had been shot by their neighbors.
Mr Peeples, who is being held in Scotland County Detention Center, was charged with two counts of attempted murder and felony conspiracy to commit attempted murder.

According to locals, the neighbors had reportedly been fighting over a fence separating the two properties.
An observer on social media, Tremaine McLeod said on Facebook: ‘The world is in a sad place if we’re killing over fences and trees.’
‘What happened to Love thy neighbor. I’m just saying,’ another said on Facebook.
Scotland County police are investigating.

Jasper Peeples was charged with two counts of attempted murder and felony conspiracy to commit attempted murder. And he is currently being held in Scotland County Detention Center
Jasper Peeples is being held under no bond, while Barbara Peeples is being held under a $400,000 secured bond.
