Four officers were killed while a fifth survived. The officers killed were identified as Pascual Alvirde, Benito Davila Villafana, Jesus Jair Rojas Pichardo and Fernando Velazquez Mejia
The surviving officer can be seen outside of the car scrambling to safety during the gunfight which lasted for more than 55 seconds
The cartel soldiers are believed to be members of the drug cartel, La Familia Michoacana
One of the hitmen has been arrested, authorities are using the video used as evidence

Video has emerged showing Mexican hitmen ambushing police officers with machine guns, killing four of the law enforcement officers.
The deadly shooting took place on October 28 in Almoloya de Alquisiras, a municipality 85 miles southwest of Mexico City.
The video is believed to be taken by the ‘sicarios’, or hitmen, who are members of the drug cartel La Familia Michoacana, according to El Universal.
It shows at least seven of the hitmen waiting in the woods, brandishing machine guns before a police SUV drives by and the armed men open fire.

The seven men recorded themselves ambushing and wiping out police in the violent attack – the camera shows men waiting on rocks and wearing bullet proof vests with their automatic weapons in hand.
A fifth officer survived the attack. He can be seen outside of the car scrambling to safety during the gunfight which lasted for more than 55 seconds.
The ambush site was on a dirt road between the villages of Los Pinos and Las Vigas.

Police say they have arrested one of the gunmen and that the video is serving as evidence against him.
Mexican authorities are now investigating how the video leaked online.
