Kovalev who faces up to four years in prison if convicted, has pled innocent to the charges, and faces up to four years in prison if he’s convicted

The married father denied the charges on Instagram, saying it was suspicious that the allegations were publicized ahead of his upcoming fight on Saturday

He’d been arrested on Jun 9 for assault with a deadly weapon, and was later released after he posted bond that same day

The arrest was not known publicly in August, when Kovalev was upset by Columbia’s Eleider Álvarez. The two are scheduled for a rematch on Feb 2

Russian boxer Sergey Kovalev is being sued for $8 million by the woman who accused him of brutalizing her and her dog after she declined his advances in Big Bear, California last June.

Kovalev, 35, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon on June 9 after reportedly leaving the woman with a broken nose, a concussion, and displaced disc in her neck. He has since denied the accusations on Instagram, warning his followers ‘not to make hasty conclusions on the situation.’
Following his arrest, the former unified light heavyweight champion pleaded innocent to the charges. He faces up to four years in prison if convicted, according to TMZ.
The accusations against Kovalev were not made public until earlier this month.

Jamie Frontz,who identified as   a model and actress — claims Sergey and a friend followed her home from the party and Kovalev aggressively tried to have sex with her.
“At one point, Kovalev pinned Jamie to the couch, leaning over her with his hands on either side of her shoulders, such that she could not move away.”
Jamie claims her dog sensed the danger and tried to intervene — but Kovalev shoved the dog away and then kicked it in the chest.
While tending to her dog, Jamie claims, “Kovalev turned to [her] and punched her with full force directly in the face one time with a closed fist.”

‘I hear that he is denying on his social media that he punched me in the face,’ she wrote in Tuesday’s Instagram post. ‘I’m curious as to how he explains the fact that I suddenly wound up with a shattered nose, an open head wound, a concussion and two spinal injuries when he was standing 3 feet away from me in the living room of my own cabin (infuriated because I wouldn’t have sex with him, so much so that he had just viciously kicked my dog Annie), and there’s an eye witness who saw the whole thing.

‘Nice try, Krusher,’ she continued, referring to Kovalev’s nickname. ‘Fortunately, he’s facing felony assault charges and I’m also suing him for $8 million, so one way or the other I suspect the truth will come out. Sadly, I know all to (sic) well what its (sic) like to get punched in the face by Kovalev, only when he hit me he wasn’t wearing gloves.’

According to her Instagram profile, Frontz is a model, blogger and influencer.

He and his friend then allegedly left, at which point she called the police. Kovalev was arrested later that night.
Frontz claims she was treated in the emergency room for a broken nose, a concussion, and severe back and neck injuries.
According to Frontz’s Instagram account, she attended a ‘casino night’ at a club on June 9, ostensibly before she was allegedly assaulted by Kovalev.
Kovalev is expected back in court in March to face the charge, according to TMZ.

         On Saturday Kovalev [left],  will have a grudge match with Colombia’s Eleider Alvarez [right], who upset the former light heavyweight champion in their previous meeting.

On Saturday Kovalev 32-3-1, will have a rematch with Colombia’s Eleider Alvarez, who recorded one of the biggest upsets in 2018 when he beat the former light heavyweight champion. 34-year-old Alvarez, has a 24-0 record.

‘Doesn’t it seem strange to you that the incident happened in June of last year, and they announced it on the eve of my rematch against Alvarez?’ Kovalev asked on Instagram.
Like Kazakh and former middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, Kovalev frequently trains in Big Bear, which hosts many boxers throughout the year.

Kovalev reached the pinnacle of his career when he earned a pair of fights against American light heavyweight champion Andre Ward, but he ultimately lost a controversial decision to Ward in 2016 before falling by TKO in 2017.
During the lead-up to the rematch, Kovalev drew criticism for making tweets that included racist and homophobic slurs.
The Russian former champion is known for his power as a remarkable 28 of Kovalev’s 32 wins have come by knockout.
Kovalev reportedly has a wife, Natalya, and a young son, Aleksandr. It is unclear exactly how much the former champion is worth, but he previously was paid over $1 million for his two fights against American Andre Ward, both of which he lost.
