A Florida woman left an attacker, who reportedly mistook her for a prostitute and sexually assaulted her, with a fat black eye that appeared to be swollen shut, police said.
The woman was hanging outside El Reventon Sports Bar & Club in Deerfield Beach on the night of St. Patrick’s Day when 18-year-old Henrry Gonzalez-Thomas, of Pompano Beach, solicited her, the Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
“How much to get with you?” Gonzalez-Thomas reportedly asked her. When the victim refused Gonzalez-Thomas’ advances, he punched her in the face before knocking her on the ground and lifting up her skirt, police said.
The victim fought back by hitting Gonzalez-Thomas in the face with her cellphone and kicking him, police said.
That didn’t stop Gonzalez-Thomas from choking the victim until she was nearly unconscious, according to cops. In addition to suffering a scrape above her eye, the victim has finger-shaped bruises on her neck, police said.
Gonzalez has a fat black eye from where the victim hit him, his mugshot reveals.
As onlookers witnessed the alleged attack, Gonzalez-Thomas attempted to run away, but good Samaritans held him down until police arrived.
Police booked Gonzalez-Thomas on charges of attempted sexual assault and cocaine possession after a white powdery substance in his pocket tested positive for the drug, police said. Gonzalez-Thomas is being held on $11,000 bond at Broward County’s Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale, Local 10 reported.

During a court hearing Monday, Assistant Broward Public Defender Hector Romero told Judge Jackie Powell that Gonzalez-Thomas was “completely dumbfounded by these allegations,” and maintains that he is the victim of the attack.
Powell set bonds totaling $11,000 for Gonzalez-Thomas and ordered him to have no contact with the woman he’s accused of attacking when he bonds out of jail.
