Gold Coast businessman Jaspreet Singh is accused of organising the murder of Australian citizen Ravneet Kaur a naturalized Australian citizen on March 14.<br />
29-year-old Kaur went missing from the village of Bagge Ke Pipal on the Pakistan-India border before her body was found on Monday night in a canal 124 miles away from her parents home.<br />
Her husband Singh was in Australia at the time but police allege he was having an affair and arranged her murder with his mistress.</p>

Friends of Singh reportedly believe he could be heading to Canada, where he has dual citizenship, and that he hasn&#8217;t been seen at his home for two days.<br />

Jaspreet Singh, who reportedly was in Australia the whole time, denied the allegations in an interview with <a class="class" href="https://www.sbs.com.au/yourlanguage/punjabi/en/article/2019/03/26/missing-australian-woman-allegedly-murdered-india-husband-charged" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">SBS Punjabi</a>.<br />
&#8216;I don&#8217;t know what the basis of all these allegations is,&#8217; he said.<br />

Singh last week in an interview said he took a call from his wife on March 14, and that&#8217;s the last time he heard from her.<br />
“She said I’ll ring you back in 10 minutes, went back to her home and I don’t know what happened,” he said.<br />
“I don’t know, I just want my wife back.”<br />
However, the detective running the case, Mohit Dhawan, said: &#8216;We have nominated her husband in the FIR (First Information Report) for conspiracy and murder.&#8217;</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">When she was abducted at 11.30am, Kaur was on a video call with her husband who was back in Australia, police said. The family told police that Ravneet got married to Singh in 2013. The couple have a four-and-a-half-year-old daughter and were expecting their second child.<br />

She arrived in India on February 27 to visit her friends and family with her four-year-old daughter.<br />
She was scheduled to return to Australia, March 22.<br />
Kaur&#8217;s devastated father Harvinder Singh told the <a class="class" href="https://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/pregnant-woman-s-body-found-in-bhakra-canal-nri-husband-booked-for-murder/story-H7QwrDz5EiAmD3pZ891TsL.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Hindustan Times</a> ;that his daughter was strangled &#8211; but this has not been confirmed.<br />
Indian authorities are now working with the Australian High Commission in New Dehli, police said.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Kaur who was born in India arrived in the country, on February 27 to visit her friends and family with her four-year-old daughter and was reported missing by her family on March 14.<br />
A female suspect was arrested in connection with the crime while another female suspect, a resident of the Gold Coast, who ; returned to Australia the next day, has also been named as a suspect in the case.<br />
Though listed as a case of kidnapping, police initially did not suspect forcible abduction.<br />
Authorities said there was clear indication that the victim had gone with someone known to her. “We will seek her husband’s extradition from Australia so that he can be questioned here and made to face the law,” police said.</p>

<div>Singh the prime suspect last week held back tears outside his Gold Coast home as he told local media: &#8216;I just want my wife back.&#8217;<br />
He said he did not trust Indian authorities to solve the case.<br />
Kaur, a mother-of-one, had been employed at Tricare in the Gold Coast and was described as a devoted worker and mother and was reportedly expecting a son.<br />
Kaur&#8217;s devastated colleagues said: &#8220;She had a heart of gold, she wouldn&#8217;t hurt anyone.<br />
&#8220;She was so loving and her smile would light up a room. It was the most beautiful smile,&#8221; one colleague told the Gold Coast Bulletin.<br />
A spokesman for the Australian Federal Police confirmed that it is aware of the death of an Australian citizen in India.</div>
