Los Angeles Police have arrested a woman suspected of trying to kidnap a four-year-old boy at a local McDonald’s.
Maralyn Ramos was arrested Wednesday according to an LAPD spokesperson. She was charged with kidnapping.
Authorities said Ramos was caught on surveillance video around 3.15pm Tuesday trying to snatch the small child inside a McDonald’s restaurant located at 1310 East Olympic Blvd in downtown L.A.’s fashion district.
Surveillance video showed the four-year-old boy standing near a window as his family ordered food. The suspected female kidnapper approached the boy from the right before quickly and calmly picking him up and walking out of the restaurant.
LAPD announced: “We need your help to identify & arrest this kidnap suspect. On May 14 she kidnapped a 4 yr old from inside a McDonald’s restaurant on Olympic Blvd & Central Ave, but fortunately witnesses intervened & she let the child go.”

She was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The incident occurred at 3:15 p.m. on May 14 at a McDonald’s at 1310 E. Olympic Blvd., where the suspect allegedly picked up a 4-year-old boy and tried to get into a parked vehicle. She fled on foot after being stopped by a witness, police said.
The suspected female kidnapper, described as a 5 foot 4 inch, 115 pound, 25 to 30-year old with black hair and unknown eye color, approaches from the right.
She quickly and calmly picked up the unidentified child before walking out of the camera’s view while taking him out of the restaurant.
A little girl who was sitting in the restaurant saw what happened and alerted adults who stopped the would-be child snatcher in the parking lot, according to KABC-TV.
‘The suspect attempted to enter a parked vehicle with the victim, but was stopped by a witness. The suspect fled on foot from the area,’ LAPD said in an emailed statement.
At 11.15am on Wednesday, another child abduction attempt took place less than three miles away near the intersection of Martin Luther King Blvd and San Pedro St.
The four-year-old boy in that incident was walking next to a family member when the suspect walked up, grabbed the child’s hand and attempted to walk off with the child, according to police.

The second alleged incident happened less than 24 hours later at an intersection less than three miles away.
‘The suspect was stopped by a witness in the area and fled from the scene on foot,’ police said.
In another posting Wednesday morning on Facebook, LAPD announced: ” The suspect has been identified as Maralyn Ramos and arrested in the area of Agatha and San Pedro Street. She was booked for 207(A) PC-Kidnapping and her bail is $100,000. We appreciate the community’s help in spreading the word so quickly.”
Authorities said they do not think Ramos is the woman involved in the Wednesday abduction attempt.
The suspect in the first kidnap attempt on Martin Luther King Boulevard is described as approximately 30-40 years old, female Black, black hair, brown eyes, standing at approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, and weighing 180-200 pounds according to reports posted online by the LAPD
