The friend called Sorey on May 10 to report that her neighbor was banging on the door and wanted to confront them about ‘money issues’
Sorey told the friend it sounded like the man who assaulted her and he ended up getting in a confrontation with the neighbor
Police said the friend killed the neighbor before Sorey admitted that she “fabricated the entire report of sexual battery and that it never happened”

A 30-year-old Tampa woman has been arrested for filing a false sexual assault claim with police, which led to a bizarre chain of events that resulted in the self-defense killing of a Florida man.
The false report of a brutal sexual assault set off a tragic chain of events that ended with her innocent neighbor being killed, according to police.
The fatal set of circumstances began when Brittany Sorey, a 30-year-old mother of six, last month contacted police to report that she had been sexually assaulted in her apartment in Largo, a town outside Tampa.

She repeated this claim in subsequent interviews with detectives.
Sorey had been living at the home with her husband Gerald and six children at the time but had fallen behind on rent, the Smoking Gun reports.
She repeated those claims when she was later re-interviewed by a detective.
The couple moved out of the home after Sorey told police she had been assaulted and one of their male friends moved in instead.
Sorey took to Facebook on April 20 to write, in a since deleted post, that she was trying to raise money for the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence following the so-called attack.
