Eddy Vladimir Féliz Garcia, 25, was detained and beaten by patrons at the bar immediately after the incident and has been charged as an accomplice to an attempted murder, <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2019/06/11/david-ortiz-undergoes-more-surgery-in-boston-after-shooting/39567265/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-track-label="inline|intext|n/a">The Associated Press</a> reports. His lawyer, Deivi Solano, told the wire service that his client did not know the person he picked up when he stopped to take a fare Sunday night.</p>

<p><span style="font-size: inherit;">Before jumping on the back of Garcia&#8217;s motorcycle, Acosta was filmed driving a Hyundai and speaking to other men.<br />
</span><span style="font-size: inherit;">He then approached Ortiz on the bicycle and shot him, police say.<br />
</span><span style="font-size: inherit;">Garcia, who was chased down and beaten at the scene of the crime, has now been charged with a slew of charges including attempted murder but his lawyer says he is an innocent moped taxi driver who had no clue what Acosta was planning.<br />
</span><span style="font-size: inherit;">According to police, two Hyundais were seen following Ortiz before the incident, including one which was facing him before he got shot.<br />
