New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung is facing cocaine possession charges in New Hampshire after being arrested in June and indicted on Aug 8
32-year-old Chung faces as much as seven years in prison if convicted of the Class B Felony
The Patriots released a statement indicating they will not be commenting
Chung is expected in the Belknap county Superior Court, New Hampshire on Wednesday
Chung broke his arm during the Patriots’ most-recent Super Bowl victory and has not played during the preseason – He was absent from Tuesday’s practice
In response to the news, the Patriots released a statement on Thursday.
‘We are aware of the reports regarding Patrick Chung,’ read the team statement. ‘We will not be commenting while his judicial proceedings take place.’
According to the indictment Chung ‘did possess or have under his control a quantity of the controlled substance cocaine’ on June 25.
He was not arrested at the time.
