<p class="byline">A Texas cop was suspended after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman he pulled over for running a stop sign, officials said.<br />
<span style="color: var(--color-text);">Officer Hector Aaron Ruiz, 24, of the Arcola Police Dept in Fort Bend County, was arrested Wednesday after the victim reported the alleged incident, </span><a href="https://www.khou.com/article/news/crime/arcola-police-officer-accused-of-sexual-assault-during-traffic-stop/285-6d9fcac0-a36e-4ff3-b5dc-4c737e52ad00" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">according to KHOU</a><span style="color: var(--color-text);">.<br />
</span><span style="color: var(--color-text);">The 23-year-old woman told authorities that Ruiz stopped her on Nov. 16 in Manvel and requested she follow him in her car.<br />
</span><span style="color: var(--color-text);">She said the cop brought her to an isolated residential street then coerced her into a sex act, KHOU reported.<br />
</span><span style="color: var(--color-text);">He was booked into jail on sexual assault charges Wednesday.<br />
</span><span style="color: var(--color-text);">Arcola Police said Ruiz has been suspended indefinitely without pay and an internal investigation was launched, </span><a href="https://abc13.com/woman-says-officer-told-her-to-follow-him-before-sex-assault/5710867/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">news station KTRK</a><span style="color: var(--color-text);"> </span><span style="color: var(--color-text);">reported.<br />
</span><span style="color: var(--color-text);">“The utter violation of public trust that these allegations represent is heinous and disgraceful,” Fort Bend County District Attorney Brian Middleton said in a statement. </span></p>

<p>The District Attorney&#8217;s office at a press conference Thursday, said that based on their investigation so far, they believe the alleged sexual assault Officer Ruiz is accused of may not be his first offense.<br />
They believe there may be more victims out there &; are asking them to please come forward.<br />
Ruiz graduated from the University of Houston-Downtown in 2017, according to his bio on the department’s website. He then joined the Arcola Police Department as a reserve officer in March 2018, becoming a full-time police officer in September last year.<br />
His bond was set at a total of $400,000. He remains in jail as of late Thursday morning.</p>
