<p>Mawhinney’s potential role as a cooperating witness could mark a critical turn in unraveling the story of what happened to Dulos, who has been missing for more than 18 months. While authorities believe Fotis Dulis killed her at her New Canaan home and drove back to Farmington with her body in a truck, she has never been found. Dulos took his own life in late January</p>

<p><br>According to Schoenhorn, while behind bars, the disgraced attorney provided the detectives with evidence that could incriminate his alleged co-conspirators &#8211; despite the fact that Fotis Dulos committed suicide not long after he was charged in Jennifer’s murder.<br>In an interview earlier this week, Schoenhorn reported that in the video, the Mawhinney told the detectives about conversations he claims he had with Troconis and Fotis Dulos close to the time when Jennifer Dulos suddenly vanished after dropping her off her kids to school.<br></p>

<p>In describing the contents of the video, Schoenhorn said Mawhinney claimed to have a conversation with Troconis and Fotis Dulos on May 23, 2019 &#8211; the eve of Jennifer&#8217;s disappearance &#8211; where they revealed what they planned to do.<br>The defense attorney said he questioned the reliability of anything that Mawhinney would tell the police.<br>Insisting that his client is innocent, Schoenhorn said that he eagerly anticipated the opportunity to cross examine Mawhinney at Michele’s trial, where she will face charges related to conspiracy to commit murder.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.courant.com/breaking-news/hc-br-dulos-mawhinney-statement-to-police-20201207-7sopl3x6p5cgjkx7ry2pqbn4iy-story.html?utm_source=knewz">Hartford Courant</a> reports Schoenhorn as pointing out that the imprisoned lawyer claims in the video interview about Jennifer Dulos’ murder that “he just happened to stop by on the night of May 23<br>Adding that the lovers told him what they were going to do, thent Fotis then told him they had done it and asked if he [Mawhinney] would be an alibi witness which he says he refused to do.”<br>Mawhinney’s potential role as a cooperating witness could mark a critical turn in unraveling the story of what happened to Dulos, who has been missing for more than 18 months. <br>While authorities believe Fotis Dulos killed his estranged wife at her New Canaan home and drove back to Farmington with her body in a truck, she has never been found. <p>Schoenhorn is pushing for the defense to cough up more records pertaining to the interview with Mawhinney.<br>Michelle’s attorney disparaged Mawhinney as a “jailhouse informant” in his filings requesting records of the lawyer’s potential snitching on Fotis Dulos and Troconis in their alleged slaying of Jennifer.<br>Schoenhorn, <a href="https://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local/troconis-attorney-denies-mawhinney-accusations-his-client-was-involved-in-dulos-disappearance/2378122/?utm_source=knewz">NBC Connecticut</a> reports, thinks that Mawhinney simply told the cops what they wanted to hear so that he could skip out of incarceration.<br>Mawhinney finally got out of prison in mid-October, after his bond was lowered from $2 million to $246,000.<br>Jennifer Dulos has been missing since May 24, 2019. The last sighting of the mother-of-five was when she dropped her children off at school in New Canaan that morning. <br>Her estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, was charged with her murder. He maintained his innocence until he died days after an attempt to take his own life in January. <br>Jennifer has never been found.<br>“It certainly didn’t come as a surprise to me that Kent Mawhinney gave a statement implicating my client and Mr. Dulos in the disappearance of Jennifer Dulos,” Michele Troconis’ lawyer said.</p>

<p>Mawhinney first got tossed in jail in January, when the lawyer was charged with conspiring with Michele Troconis and Fotis Dulos to murder Jennifer, <a href="https://patch.com/connecticut/newcanaan/kent-mawhinney-seeking-deal-jennifer-dulos-case">Patch</a> notes.<br>The attorney formerly represented Fotis Dulos, He was also a friend of the late real estate developer.<br>Troconis is slated to appear in court next on January 25, while Mawhinney’s next appearance will be on February 1.</p>
