A Nebraska woman was found guilty of sex crimes Wednesday over the abuse of two of her daughter’s young friends during alcohol-fueled sleepovers at her home in Omaha.
Christina Greer, 38, was accused ofvsexually abusing two boys ages 12 and 13 while they were visiting her 11-year-old daughter for weekend sleepovers in late 2017 and early 2018.
Authoriities in Sarpy County arrested Greer in 2019 and charged with five counts of felony child abuse and held on a total of $1.5 million bail.
Prosecutors said she gave alcohol and marijuana to children at her home. She gave the victims marijuana-infused gummy bears and told them not to tell anyone about the parties, according to Sarpy County attorney’s office.
Greer’s own daughter told a court during a pre-trial hearing on 2019 that some of the events included margaritas and drinking games, local media reported at the time.
Greer’s daughter identified up to six teens or preteens who regularly spent the weekend at the house.
Her mother she said, told the kids to keep the events at her house a secret.
“She said we shouldn’t tell anybody because she’d get in trouble and lose her kids,” the girl said about her mother, adding that the kids would get drunk “every time.”
Prosecutors said Greer groomed the victims into having sex with her and took photos of the abuse. The 13-year-old boy told investigators he had sex with Greer on three occasions during the sleepovers.
Sheriff’s Deputy Joe Benak testified that investigators found three photos of Greer on the cellphone of the one of the boys Greer is alleged to have sexually assaulted.
A jury this week convicted Greer of three counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child, six counts of felony child abuse and two counts of witness tampering. She was acquitted of two other counts.
Greer faces a mandatory sentence of at least 45 years in prison, but she could also get a life term.
Her sentencing is scheduled for April 19.
