Police said the suspect, Chidinma Adaora Ojukwu, conspired with accomplices who remain at large, to slay the wealthy suspect and rob him posthumously

Ataga was murdered around 5pm local time, on June 15, inside a short term rental apartment in Lekki Phase 1, an upmarket part of the city

Mass communication senior Chidinma Ojukwu admitted before the gathered the press corps that she killed Ataga, but claimed she stabbed him during a struggle after he demanded for sex and she did not want to sleep with him

After the killing police said the suspect retrieved the murder weapon and slipped out of the apt, which she had rented two days earlier for the tryst

She then withdrew N5million from the victim’s account before disappearing into her own world

She was arrested nine days later at her parents house on the other side of town

The Lagos police command have started the manhunt for her accomplices while Ojukwu is remanded in custody

The Lagos state police command has arrested and paraded a 21-year-old lady alleged to have killed Michael Usifo Ataga, 50, the Chief Executive Officer of Super TV, and a director in Super Network Limited.
Chidinma Adaora Ojukwu, a senior at the University of Lagos has been arrested and paraded for the murder of Usifo Ataga.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu said the 21-yer-old Mass Communication major was arrested with the cooperation of the owner of the Airbnb where the two had lodged before the incident.
Ojukwu said she’s known the victim for four months admitted to stabbing him twice after a disagreement before escaping from their love nest, an Airbnb apartment.
Admitting to the killing while answering questions posed by the media in Lagos on Thursday Chidinma Ojukwu, said she stabbed the victim with a kitchen knife because she was sleepy when he wanted sex, but she was not in the mood.
Calmly fielding questions the murder suspect explained that the pair had been taking the drugs, SK and loud, when her date demanded sex, but she was sleepy and turned him down.
She claims she attempted to leave the lodging, but Ataga had locked the door and hid the key. He pulled her back and a struggle ensued, that is when she grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed him several times.
When he was still, she changed her clothes, found the key opened the door and left for home
However the police account is that the suspect conspired with accomplices, who remain at large, to slay the wealthy suspect and rob him posthumously. Ataga was murdered around 5pm local time, on June 15, inside a short term rental apartment in Lekki Phase 1, an upmarket part of the city.

Ojukwu is accused of drugging the TV executive before stabbing him to death. 30 minutes after killing Ataga, Ojukwu, who had earlier booked for the apartment two days earlier on June 13, then stole the victim’s phone and bank cards and slipped out of the short time rental without informing the management.
Nine days later, the suspect was tracked down and arrested in parents home her residence in the other side of the city in, Alagomeji, Yaba.
Executing a search warrant against the home, investigators recovered blood-soaked clothing believed to have been worn by the suspect on the day of the killing.
Ojukwu allegedly, confessed to having stabbed the deceased twice with a kitchen knife after a struggle. However, the victim’s body showed that he’d been stabbed multiple times in the neck, shoulders and thighs.
She further confessed to have taken the murder weapon on leaving the scene. She claims to have gone home directly without contacting anyone. The knife was thrown into the garbage when she got home, while she continued her life like nothing happened, she claimed
Police revealed that the suspect stole the deceased iPhone and bank cards. She went on to withdraw $5million from his account before vanishing. She was arrested nine days later.

Ataga, who resides in the exclusive millionaire’s enclave known as Banana Island, was reported missing on Sunday, June 13, by his family and friends after he didn’t return to his home and he also didn’t turn up at his office. All efforts to reach Ataga, who would have turned 50 years old on June 18, proved abortive and this caused distress to his wife and children, who live in the capital, Abuja.

Ojukwu said she was introduced to the deceased by her friend four months ago. She mentioned that on the day of the incident, she told her parents that she was going for an ushering job but went on to meet with the deceased so they could have some fun. She told newsmen that while in the apartment, they were taking drugs called ”loud and SK” and that an argument ensued between them when she refused to have sex with him. She said she stabbed him twice before she fled the apartment.

Ojukwu stressed that she withdrew N380, 000 from his account with the intention of using it to pay her school fees. She denies withdrawing the N5million earlier reported in the media. The question hat is left hanging is how she obtained the victim’s pin

The suspect stressed that she withdrew N380, 000 from his account with the intention of using it to pay her school fees. She denies withdrawing the N5million earlier reported in the media. When a reporter reminded her that police traced N10m to her account, she simply stated that it was not her bank account
Meanwhile, the police say they have blocked Ataga’s account to prevent further withdrawals.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and the manhunt has been launched for the other accomplices. However, the case will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded
