Atlanta police have released a 911 call placed by local rapper Jerry Antoine, reporting the armed kidnapping of his bartender girlfriend, Mariam Abdulrab. Convicted sex offender DeMarcus Brinkley was later arrested on kidnapping and murder charges

Police did not release a motive in the case, or say whether Brinkley knew Abdulrab prior to the killing.
A 911 call that was made by Abdulrab’s rapper boyfriend, Jerry Antoine, captures the first minutes after the victim was forced into a vehicle by an armed man and whisked away just before 5am on Friday.
Antoine, who performs under the stage name Germ, tells an emergency dispatcher that Abdularb had called him to say that she was approaching his house on Burroughs Street in Atlanta after finishing a shift at the Revery VR BAr, but she never made it inside.
Instead, Antoine said he watched from a window as a man wearing a security shirt held a gun to his girlfriend’s head and forced her into an SUV just moments after she emerged from her car.

‘I just watched her get kidnapped from in front of my house! What the f**k!’ an audibly shaken Antoine exclaims on the call before unleashing a torrent of expletives.
Nearly five hours later, police received another 911 call from a man walking his dog who reported finding Abdulrab lying face down on the ground outside an abandoned house on Lake Avenue. ‘She does not appear to be breathing,’ the man tells a 911 operator.
‘I see blood around her upper body and arms… Lord, this is somebody’s baby.’
Abdulrab had been shot multiple times, according to the medical examiner.
A short time later, police named Brinkley as a person of interest in Abdulrab’s killing.
He was initially arrested on traffic charges after leading cops on a high-speed car chase that ended when he wrecked his blue 2013 Chevrolet Equinox into gold Buick in Griffin, witness video posted to Facebook shows.

Brinkley was taken to an Atlanta hospital with injuries. Authorities said he would be booked into the Fulton County jail after his release from the hospital.
Police haven’t commented on whether Brinkley and Abdulrab knew each other.
Records obtained by 11Alive indicate that Brinkley has a lengthy criminal history dating back to his teenage years, when he was arrested for stealing an iPod from a teacher at his high school.
In 2012, Brinkley was arrested for trying to rape a five-year-old girl, resulting in a conviction on multiple counts, including aggravated child molestation, cruelty to children, criminal attempt to commit rape and simple battery.
He was sentenced to seven years in prison, followed by eight years of probation.

During his sentencing hearing, Brinkley and his defense attorney told the court he had been diagnosed with two mental health disorders and was taking three medications.
The judge recommended Brinkley serve his time in custody in a mental health facility.
Court and prison records don’t show if Brinkley served his time in such a facility, but list his last place of incarceration as Ware State Prison.
After serving his time in custody, Brinkley was released on probation in November of 2020.
Meanwhile, Abdulrab’s loved ones have been struggling to come to terms with her violent and sudden death.

The bar remained closed during the weekend in mourning for Abdulrab. ‘Our hearts are truly broken at the loss of a dear friend and family member,’ the bar wrote on social media.
‘Mariam brought light to every single person she came in contact with and will forever be missed.’ Over the weekend, a mural honoring the slain bartender appeared near the Krog Street Tunnel.
Mourners have been leaving flowers beneath Abdulrab’s image decorated with flowers and a halo.
On Sunday, dozens of people, among them Jerry Antoine, Abdulrab’s boyfriend, gathered at the site of the mural to pay tribute to her.
