<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A Michigan city school board president was ousted after brutally attacking a fellow board member by slamming her head on a table and choking her at a meeting.<br>Flint Community School Board President Danielle Green was relieved of her duties ;after she allegedly attacked the Board&#8217;s Treasurer, Laura McIntyre, at the Finance Committee meeting at 10am Wednesday.<br>Flint Schools Superintendent Kevelin ;Jones told ;<a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.mlive.com/news/flint/2022/03/flint-schools-calls-special-meeting-after-alleged-assault-between-board-members.html" target="_blank">M Live</a> ;that the pair got into a disagreement over building new schools.<br>At an emergency meeting later that day McIntyre, sporting two black eyes, souvenirs of the assault, said there was &#8216;no fight&#8217; leading up to the attack and the &#8216;only person fighting&#8217; was Green. During the emergency meeting, where Green was voted out of her role as president 6-0<br>McIntyre filed a police report against Green. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">She said Green got up and &#8216;towered&#8217; over her at the finance meeting and started &#8216;threatening me with her finger.&#8217; ; ; ;<br>&#8216;I stood up to back away at ;which point she grabbed my throat and then grabbed my hair and slammed my head into the table and started punching me in the head,&#8217; she said. &#8216;It was not warranted, uncalled for and completely inappropriate. It will not be tolerated and we are taking action tonight. <br>&#8216;In the moment, I was shocked and surprised. It had never crossed my mind that anything like this would ever escalate like this. <br>&#8216;There was no fight. There was no argument. This escalated out of nothing and very quickly it was an attack. It was an assault. ;<br>&#8216;I&#8217;m only here to make sure the truth comes out and justice is served. <br>&#8216;I was attacked out of nowhere, for no reason.&#8217; ; ; ; ; ; ;<br>McIntyre, self-defined on her Facebook page as a &#8216;queer mother-of-three&#8217;, said she filed a police report and will be pressing charges. Green has not been arrested by police who were called to the meeting shortly after, the ;<a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/local/michigan/2022/03/24/flint-school-board-leader-loses-spot-after-alleged-assault-treasurer/7149801001/" target="_blank">Detroit News</a> ;reports. ;<br>&#8216;At this point, I plan to pursue this to the full extent of the law and I&#8217;m looking at my other legal options as an individual,&#8217; McIntyre said at the meeting, according to ABC 12 News. ; ; <br>*On Thursday, the incident remained under investigation and no arrest had been made, said ;Det. Sgt. ;Tyrone Booth, Flint Police Department spokesman. <br>Booth added that it is &#8220;that is to be determined.&#8221; whether an arrest warrant would be submitted to the Genesee County Prosecutor&#8217;s Office.<br>Several members noted the significance of the attack.<br>&#8220;It wasn’t right. I didn’t like it. And I did my best to restrain it and to stop it,&#8221; Trustee Allen Gilbert told McIntyre. <br>&#8220;It wasn’t good enough (to stop the alleged attack). You did not deserve it &#8230;&#8221;<br>The ;meeting ;was called &#8220;to discuss how to keep Board members and the public safe in open meetings and discuss security implementation or other appropriate measures,&#8221; district officials said.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Although Green, also a mother of three, was removed from her role as president, she is still allowed to serve on the Board of Education, since she was elected. ;<br>Sequel to the altercation, the School Board decided to have police in attendance at all future meetings until further notice. ;<br>In a post showdown interview, Green told<a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.abc12.com/news/education/flint-school-board-meeting-erupts-into-altercation-between-president-treasurer/article_21c01218-aae2-11ec-bf0d-8fa393b081a4.html" target="_blank"> ;ABC 12 News</a> ;this &#8216;is not one of my highlights of my anything, my life, my career, my position in the community. <br>&#8216;None of this am I proud of. Absolutely not. And this is one incident.<br>&#8216;Never in my life would I have thought something like this I will be involved in ever, ever. And I can say this, my record speaks for itself.&#8217; ;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Green was elected president in January and in the last six years has served as a trustee and a vice president. McIntyre was elected Treasurer around the same time Green became president. ; ;<br>Green, who is also a mother-of-three, said this incident doesn&#8217;t &#8216;define her or her record of service&#8217; and that she isn&#8217;t &#8216;proud&#8217; of the moment.<br>Although she will no longer serve as president of the school board, she will still be able to be on the board, as she was elected. Her tenure, which ends in January, will be completed by Board Vice President Joyce Ellis-McNeal.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Superintendent Jones, released a statement on behalf of Flint Community Schools, stating<strong> </strong>he was &#8216;aware&#8217; of the incident and is &#8216;committed to the safety of all members of our school community.&#8217; ;<br>&#8216;I want to assure families that we will remain focused on our mission to provide a high-quality education to our scholars,&#8217; he wrote in a statement. <br>&#8216;We are focused on our families this school year and beyond.&#8217; ;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Flint School Board has been in the news for the past few years, as members have clashed on its mask policy, critical race theory and other topics. Two board members also quit in September, for reasons not diclosed. ;<br>The school board also plans to discuss the $150million in federal COVID-19 relief money it received. The board said on Wednesday that it would start strategizing how to spend the funds. ;</p>
