The contents of a suitcase seen on footage from CCTV surveillance camera being dragged along the streets by a person dressed in the habit of a nun, seen wheeling what appeared to be an overladen suitcase down the street sparked a murder investigation that was not.
The luggage was abandoned on the street where a curious passersby who happened on the case found a body stuffed inside, sparking a murder investigation which ended with a perplexing revelation. 
Footage recorded on CCTV camera shows an elderly nun walking along a smart residential street as she struggled to pull the huge suitcase behind her.
Dressed in the blue and black robes of her religious order, the 80-year-old woman, who has not been named, walked past a home where she was recorded on their security system. A passerby later discovered a body in the case on April 8, and called police.

The CCTV video emerged after police began a full-scale murder hunt over what they first believed was a drugs cartel killing in Santiago. 
Investigators at first believed the body to have come from a gangland execution.
And only after trawling local CCTV for evidence did police discover that it had been abandoned by a nun.
It later emerged that the case had contained the corpse of a 58-year-old fellow nun who had apparently died of natural causes a year earlier.
Questioned by police, the suitcase carrying nun said they pair had made a pact to take care of each other beyond death. According to Deputy Governor Juan Fonseca, the deceased nun had been kept in a case as an act of ‘affection and loyalty’.
It later emerged that both women did not belong to a formal religious order but were ‘consecrated laywomen’ who lived a cloistered life in habits and robes.

The resolve to store her religious sister’s corpse by the 80-year-old nun only changed when her daughter visited and decided the deceased woman should be laid to rest, investigators concluded.
An autopsy did not uncover signs of the dead woman being deliberate killed, police said.
The investigation is ongoing and while the 80-year-old nun was not arrested, she could still be charged with violations of the health code, according to local media reports.
