A Las Vegas mother and her sister sobbed in court as they were sentenced for the deaths of her two toddlers in a horror DUI crash two years ago that left one of the children decapitated.
Raenysa Washington, 25, was present when her toddlers Rose and Taylor Wilmer, aged 2 and 3, were killed when her sister Kaleah Manning, 27, lost control of a van while speeding and drunk in December 2022.
On Thursday, prosecutors revealed the toddlers girls were not strapped in car seats because Washington, who was also in the van, had sold her daughter’s car seats a week before their deaths, 8 News Now. reported.
The younger child was decapitated and died on the scene. Taylor died at University Medical Center.

Sisters Taylor and Rose Wilmer, aged three and two, were both killed in the crash on Scott Robinson Boulevard at around 9.15pm. The girls were not strapped in car seats because their mom had sold them just a week before their deaths in 2022
Manning and Washington’s mother sobbed in court as she pled for mercy for her daughters, with a relative leading her out of the courtroom as she wailed.
Manning was sentenced to three-to-ten years in a state prison for the two deaths while driving under the influence.
The children’s mother Raenysa Washington, who is currently pregnant, was sentenced to 364 days in Clark County Detention Center as a precursor to five years probation on a considerably longer suspended prison sentence for felony child abuse or neglect.

Washington asked to begin her sentence on Monday so she could spend the day with her son, who was born after her daughters’ deaths, but judge Erika Mendoza ruled that she begin her sentence immediately.
‘The problem is I’m not sure that all of these mistakes are things that could happen to a responsible parent,’ Mendoza said.
The sisters must also pay a victims’ fund $10,000 that helped pay for the children’s funerals in addition to a mandatory $2,000 fine.

The drunk driver was reportedly ‘slurring’ her words and had a ‘strong odor of alcohol coming from her mouth every time she ‘opened it to speak’ according to Las Vegas police.

Kaleah Manning was drunk behind the wheel at the time of the collision. The sisters were charged in connection with the children’s deaths. Manning admitted guilt to two counts of DUI resulting in death. She will spend three to ten years behind bars.

Cops also said her eyes were bloodshot, and she kept repeating herself.
Rose died at the scene, while Taylor was rushed to the University Medical Center but eventually succumb to her injuries.
Both women were rushed to hospital, where they were handcuffed to their beds while recovering from their injuries, which were critical at first.
Manning and Washington lived together at the same address with the two little girls.
