Neighbors reported hearing screams of horror as the suspect who is heir to a large food fortune killed his housemate in a stabbing frenzy on on December 24, 2023. Dylan Thomas, 24, had previously made some chilling web searches, prosecutors told the Cardiff Crown Court.
The alleged killer Dylan Thomas, according to court documents had lived with 23-year-old William Bush for ‘some years’ after they met while attending $16,518, [£13,000], per semester Christ College.
The long term friendship came to an abrupt end, allegedly with Thomas, the heir to a $29.23 million, [£230 million], fortune, killing Bush his housemate on Christmas Eve, in a ‘frenzied’ knife attack.

Dylan Thomas is charged with murdering his friend and roommate, William Bush on Christmas Eve. Court heard he plotted to kill Bush after discovering he was planning to move in with his girlfriend Ella Jeffries

Cardiff Crown Court heard Dylan began plotting to murder after discovering that Bush was planning to move in with his girlfriend, Ella Jeffries.
He then sent a message in the early hours saying he needed to see Bush before he left to meet his family.
Thomas then allegedly carried out an online search for ‘anatomy of the neck’.
Jurors were told ‘screams of horror’ were heard as Thomas attacked Bush in his bedroom – with either a lock knife or flick knife – from behind.
After being knifed in the back of the neck, Bush the charging documents add, fled ‘for his life’ to the ground floor of the shared home, where he was stabbed repeatedly in the head and chest.
Prosecutor Greg Bull told the court: ‘Mr Bush was trying to escape from Mr Thomas who pursued him out of his bedroom, down two flights of stairs, through the kitchen, and outside into the patio where Mr Bush collapsed after he sustained a fatal laceration to an artery in his neck.’
Responding officers met the alleged killer still covered in blood. Holding out his blood covered hands in front of him, Thomas was arrested.
When a police officer asked him: ‘Where’s the person who did this?’, Thomas replied: ‘I think he is dead, I f****** disarmed him’.

He later told police he stabbed the victim in self-defense, insisting his friend had been ‘having an episode’.
The court was told the attitude of Thomas towards Bush had changed before the killing due to his friend’s new relationship.
He warned Bush around a month before the attack: ‘I thought about killing you, I just wanted to see what would happen if I do certain things.’
The victim’s girlfriend Ella Jeffries later told police that Bush had taken the threat seriously and even barricaded his door while he slept.

Police investigate at the crime scene. Locals reported hearing horror screams

Prosecutor Greg Bull told the court that, ‘before Mr Bush met Ella Jeffries, the two men spent a great deal of time together. They would play golf together, they would go out together in the evening, and Mr Bush would support Mr Thomas in every way that he could. He would regularly drive Mr Thomas to any place that he wished to go as Mr Thomas could not drive.
‘In short, Mr Thomas relied heavily on his friendship and the time spent with Mr Bush. The dynamics of the relationship between the two men were changing in the period leading up to Christmas 2023.
‘Firstly Mr Bush was spending more and more of his time with Ella, with whom his relationship was blossoming. Mr Bush and Ella had decided to seek a home of their own together in the New Year.’ Thomas has admitted to manslaughter but denies the charge of murder in the ongoing trial.
