<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A 34-year-old elementary school teacher in Middle Township, accused of having a baby with a 13-year-old boy made her first appearance in a New Jersey court on Thursday and was denied bond.She is being held at the Cape May County Correctional Center.<br>Fifth grade teacher Laura Caron of Cape May Court House, was arrested on Wednesday on charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.<br>Dressed in regulation orange uniform appeared in court via satellite link. According to court documents, Caron met the alleged victim when she taught him and his brother at Middle Township Elementary School #2.<br>In the lead up to the assault the teenager&#8217;s parents said, the family over the years had become friends with Caron and began allowing both of their sons and their daughter to stay over at her house for one to two nights a week. Sometime in 2016, the three children moved in full time with the teacher. The crimes allegedly began the same year and lasted until 2020.The older boy was 11 at the time.<br>The alleged assault came to light in December 2024 when the victim&#8217;s father in a social media post noted that Caron&#8217;s child bore a strong resemblance to both himself and his son. <br>The child at the center of the lawsuit was born in 2019. The student was 13 years old and Caron was 28 years old.</p>

<p class="has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph"><strong>The baby was born when the victim himself was 13 years old and Caron was 28 years old in 2019</strong>. <strong>The victim&#8217;s sister told officers that when her brother would shower, their host would enter the bathroom and lock the door</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">According to the criminal complaint lodged by the victim&#8217;s sister, come night the children would initially sleep in a shared room on the second floor. However, she reportedly soon began noticing her brother would be in Caron&#8217;s bed the next morning. <br>She also told officers that when her brother would shower, their host would enter the bathroom and lock the door.<br>The victim&#8217;s younger brother told officers that he had once seen the suspect having sex with his brother when they thought he was asleep. <br>Prosecutors also said the teenager allegedly, <a href="https://6abc.com/post/middle-township-elementary-school-teacher-accused-sexually-assaulting-young-student-having-child-together/15803234/">admitted </a>to being the father of Caron&#8217;s five-year-old child and requested that it be kept a secret in texts to his sister. <br>During a police interview, he reportedly confirmed he had a sexual relationship Caron and the child was his own. <br>The victim reportedly said he was in contact with the teacher until his father made the Facebook post in December.</p>

<p class="has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Prosecutors notified the Middle Township School District of the investigation. The District confirmed that Caron &#8216;was immediately placed on and continues to be on paid administrative leave&#8217; </strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&#8216;I want to personally assure the parents of Middle Township that we are taking every step possible to ensure the safety of our children,&#8217; Middle Township Police Chief Tracey Super said in a statement. <br>&#8216;Our department is working closely with the Prosecutor&#8217;s Office to ensure that every aspect of this case is thoroughly investigated.&#8217; <br>Prosecutors further confirmed that the Middle Township School District was notified of the investigation and is currently cooperating with law enforcement. </p>
