Former ‘teacher of the year’, 34, is charged after sexually abusing child under the age of 14 at San Diego Elementary school

A married former ‘Teacher of the Year’ charged with sexually abusing 13-year-old boy after mom sensed something was very wrong. The award-winning California elementary school teacher was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexually abusing a student at the San Diego school.
Jacqueline Ma, who taught sixth grade at Lincoln Acres Elementary School, was charged with six counts of sexual misconduct, including three for oral copulation with a child under 14, and three for lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14.
It is believed there was only one victim of Ma’s predatory behavior and the school confirmed that the student no longer attended the school where the alleged pedophile taught.
San Diego police released a statement that “On the evening of March 6, 2023, the National City Police Department was contacted by a concerned parent who suspected that her 13-year-old child was possibly having an inappropriate relationship with a former teacher.” Adding that, “On the morning of March 7, 2023, officers developed probable cause to arrest Jacqueline Ma (34-years-old), a current teacher at Lincoln Acres Elementary in National City.”
Fox 5 San Diego reported that the the alleged pedophile is a married woman who’s taught at Lincoln Acres Elementary School.
The 34-year-old was one of five San Diego teachers selected as ‘Teachers of the Year’ in 2022. According to her LinkedIn page, she had worked at the school since 2013.
A sign touting her “Teacher of the Year” accolades was reportedly on display outside the home until her arrest.

The San Diego Sheriff’s Department said Ma was arrested at 8am Tuesday, out of view of students.
‘Both law enforcement and our site staff collaborated to ensure that student learning and the campus climate were not interrupted,’ the department said in statement.
‘We can confirm that the student no longer attends our school, and we assure you that we will do everything we can to support the investigation.’
Police said Ma was arrested ‘on the allegation of having a physically inappropriate relationship with a former student.’ The errant teacher was sent to the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility after her arrest, where she was booked on $100,000 bond.
She is due in court today, March 9.

School district Superintendent Leighangela Brady confirmed the arrest in a statement to NBC 7.
Brady also confirmed there was only one known victim, and that they no longer attended the school.
‘We know that our entire school community is as stunned as we were by this news. The district will cooperate with law enforcement and cannot comment any further on the pending investigation,’ Brady’s statement read.
‘We will continue to do everything possible to keep our students’ safety, needs, and education first and foremost.’
According to Brady, the school is hiring a substitute teacher to replace Ma.
When she was named a 2022 Teacher of the Year, an award profile for Ma read that she ‘considers the relationships she maintains with her students her greatest accomplishments,’ according to NBC 7.
