<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A student at a French high school stabbed four other students at his school on Thursday afternoon, killing at least one and injuring three others before being arrested, police said.<br>According to national police official the incident took place at the private Notre-Dame-de-Toutes-Aides Secondary School &#8211; a private high school in Nantes on the french Atlantic coast.<br>The student stabbed four people with a knife during a lunch break before teachers subdued him. The attacker reportedly entered two different classrooms around midday and stabbed the victims. One of the assailant&#8217;s classmates was killed, while some of the other victims were left with serious injuries. The suspect was later taken in by police. <br>The assailant according to fellow students, &#8220;was known to be depressed. He said he loved Hitler&#8221;. However, the immediate trigger for the attack were not immediately clear. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A police spokesperson said there was no indication of a terrorist motive. Teachers had overpowered the student, 15, before police arrived, they said. The crime scene remains cordoned off with police and troops surrounding the school as the investigation got under way.<br>French education minister, Élisabeth Borne, announced on X that she and the interior minister, Bruno Retailleau, were heading to the school to show “solidarity with victims and the school community”.<br>An official at the school, which is part of a complex housing a primary and middle school, said the school was concentrating on caring for the students who were on campus at the time.</p>
