A suspect wielding two blades allegedly shouted “Allahu Akbar,” when he fatally stabbed a teacher and injured two others in a knife attack at a high school in northern France on Friday morning, according to local media reports.
The assailant stabbed the assistant principal of the school and a gym teacher at the City School Gambetta-Carnot, French outlet BFMTV reported.
A third teacher, identified as French language teacher Dominique Bernard, was killed as he intervened as the assailant launched his two blade attack.
The assistant principal and a gym teacher teacher who were hospitalized with serious injuries have been stabilized and now out of danger, according to local media reports.
The suspect reportedly, is a 20-year-old former student, Mohammed Mogushkov. The suspect who is of Chechen origin, was arrested shortly after. The assailant who earlier had been classified as radicalized (seller S) by authorities in France, reportedly had been under surveillance by French security [DGSI].
His younger brother was also arrested Friday morning near the campus of Savary High School, another school in the city of Arras, without a weapon.
A third suspect who was arrested Friday near another school, Lycée Robespierre, after he tried to break into the school, was released after security agents determined that he was not linked to the attack.

Students were placed on lockdown in the building as worried parents rushed to the school.
“We were leaving class to go to the canteen when we saw the guy with two knives attacking the teacher, who had blood on him. He tried to calm him down and protect us,” a student told La Voix du Nord.
“He told us to leave, but we didn’t really understand, so we ran and others went back upstairs.”
French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said on X that the “perpetrator was arrested” as police conducted their operation at the school.
Police could not confirm media reports that the assailant had shouted “Allahu Akbar” — “God is great” in Arabic.
