<p>Kentucky college cheerleader Laken Snelling whose stated life goals includes getting married and becoming a mom has been charged in the death of her newborn infant whose corpse she allegedly dumped in a closet, according to police.<br>Snelling, a 21-year-old University of Kentucky student was arrested on Saturday and charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence and concealing the birth of an infant. <br>The event unfolded after officers with the Lexington Police Department responding to the report of an unresponsive infant at a home on Wednesday morning. The baby was pronounced dead at the scene.</p>

<p>An arrest citation said the &#8216;infant was located wrapped in a towel inside of a black trash bag.&#8217;<br>Snelling allegedly admitted to officers that she gave birth after being read her rights.<br>She &#8216;admitted to concealing the birth by cleaning any evidence, placing all cleaning items used inside of a black trash bag, including the infant, who was wrapped in a towel,&#8217; according to the citation. <br>As of Monday, the child&#8217;s cause of death had not yet to be determined by the Fayette County Coroner&#8217;s Office, reported the Independent. </p>

<p>Ironically, two months prior, on June 25, Snelling posting on TikTok getting marriage, having a baby and owning a home among her goals.<br>While the cause of death for the infant has not been released, some social media users have noted that Snelling resides and was arrested in Kentucky, a state where abortion is illegal.<br>A near-total abortion ban has been in effect in Kentucky since 2022, with no exceptions for rape or incest.<br>The ban only permits abortion to prevent the &#8216;substantial risk of death&#8217; or to prevent the &#8216;serious, permanent impairment of a life-sustaining organ&#8217; of the pregnant person.<br>Snelling from White Pine, Tennessee, is in her junior year at the school, studying Interdisciplinary Disability Studies at the University of Kentucky.</p>

<p>Snelling is a member of the University of Kentucky &#8216;stunt team,&#8217; a competitive cheer program, to the school&#8217;s athletics website and the university said in a statement confirmed that &#8216;she has been a member of the STUNT team for the last three seasons&#8217;.<br>The school has advised that &#8216;All other questions should be directed to the Lexington Police.&#8217;<br>Snelling is being held at the Fayette County Detention Center and the LPD&#8217;s Department&#8217;s Special Victims Section is continuing to investigate.</p>
