Kentucky college cheerleader Laken Snelling whose stated life goals includes getting married and becoming a mom has been charged in the death of her newborn infant whose corpse she allegedly dumped in a closet, according to police.
Snelling, a 21-year-old University of Kentucky student was arrested on Saturday and charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence and concealing the birth of an infant.
The event unfolded after officers with the Lexington Police Department responding to the report of an unresponsive infant at a home on Wednesday morning. The baby was pronounced dead at the scene.

Snelling allegedly admitted to officers that she gave birth after being read her rights.
She ‘admitted to concealing the birth by cleaning any evidence, placing all cleaning items used inside of a black trash bag, including the infant, who was wrapped in a towel,’ according to the citation.
As of Monday, the child’s cause of death had not yet to be determined by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office, reported the Independent.

‘Goals’ – Snelling in TikTok post on June 25, posted that she wanted to be a mother only to be arrested two months later for keeping her dead newborn in a trash bag, stashed in the her closet of her student residence
Ironically, two months prior, on June 25, Snelling posting on TikTok getting marriage, having a baby and owning a home among her goals.
While the cause of death for the infant has not been released, some social media users have noted that Snelling resides and was arrested in Kentucky, a state where abortion is illegal.
A near-total abortion ban has been in effect in Kentucky since 2022, with no exceptions for rape or incest.
The ban only permits abortion to prevent the ‘substantial risk of death’ or to prevent the ‘serious, permanent impairment of a life-sustaining organ’ of the pregnant person.
Snelling from White Pine, Tennessee, is in her junior year at the school, studying Interdisciplinary Disability Studies at the University of Kentucky.

Snelling on her Instagram account shared news of upcoming beauty pageants, captioning her latest post on June 11: ‘There is a pageant for EVERYONE!’. That account has since been deleted
Snelling is a member of the University of Kentucky ‘stunt team,’ a competitive cheer program, to the school’s athletics website and the university said in a statement confirmed that ‘she has been a member of the STUNT team for the last three seasons’.
The school has advised that ‘All other questions should be directed to the Lexington Police.’
Snelling is being held at the Fayette County Detention Center and the LPD’s Department’s Special Victims Section is continuing to investigate.
