<p>A glamorous suspected serial killer allegedly kept her landlord’s decomposing body inside her home in Brazil for five days.<br>Ana Paula Veloso Fernandes, a 36-year-old mom and law student from São Paulo, is <a href="https://www.cnnbrasil.com.br/nacional/sudeste/sp/mulher-foi-morta-apos-revelar-caso-extraconjugal-entre-serial-killer-e-pm/">alleged to have killed</a> at least four people in the space of five months. <br>The poisonings are said to have occurred between January and May 2025 in Guarulhos and São Paulo in south-eastern Brazil and Duque de Caxias in the state of Rio de Janeiro. <br>Among the victims Marcelo Hari Fonseca, 65, was killed in January, Maria Aparecida Rodrigues, died between April 10 and 11, Neil Corrêa da Silva, died on April 26 and Hayder Mhazres, 21, died May 23 in São Paulo.<br>Police allege Fernandes was aided by her twin sister Roberta Cristina Veloso Fernandes, 36, who was arrested in August, and friend Michelle Paiva da Silva, 43, who is the daughter of one of the alleged victims. All three are in custody.</p>

<p>The suspected serial killer is held in custody while testing continues on the exhumed bodies. <br>Making a case for the suspect to remain behind bars during investigation, Police Chief Halisson Ideiao said, the “extremely manipulative” suspect “takes pleasure in killing” and shows “a lack of remorse,” the chief warned.<br>She “wants to kill” and would “certainly attempt to kill others” if released, he noted. <br>One of the earliest known victims was her landlord, Marcelo Hari Fonseca, whom she allegedly stabbed during an argument in January.<br>The case was initially closed due to a lack of evidence, but was reopened when the landlord’s daughter went back to cops, who were eyeing Veloso Fernandes in a series of other deaths, the report said.<br>She then confessed, according to police, that she covered the entrance to the room with a sheet so her son and niece would not see the body, the report said.</p>

<p>She only called the police five days later when her son began complaining about the smell and maggots had started crawling around the house.<br>Veloso Fernandes said she later burned the couch where she stabbed her landlord, claiming she did it to “remove odors” and “clean the room.”<br>Police have allegedly connected Veloso Fernandes to at least three other deaths between January and May this year, mostly using rat poison, according to the report. When she was arrested and questioned, she allegedly admitted to first testing the poison on dogs, killing at least 10. <br>Police searching her home found agents found Terbufos, an agrochemical similar to rat poison.<br>Authorities said that the suspect demonstrated technical knowledge regarding the use and dosage of the poison, controlling the time and dosage so that the deaths appeared to be due to natural causes.</p>

<p>Veloso Fernandes allegedly killed three others, Maria Aparecida Rodrigues, Hayder Mhazres, and Neil Correa da Silva, for financial gain and revenge, according to investigators. <br>In the case of Neil Corrêa da Silva, who died on April 26 after eating food laced with poison, police said Veloso Fernandes was hired to carry out the killing by the victim’s daughter, former college classmate Michele Paiva da Silva, who paid 4000 Brazilian real (A$1120), for the murder.<br>On April 10, Maria Aparecida Rodrigues was found dead after having coffee at Fernandes’ home.<br>Veloso Fernandes, was having an extramarital relationship military police officer, claims Maria Aparecida Rodrigues with whom she was also in a relationship, discovered her affair with the married law man.<br>A few hours after a series of warning messages and threats were sent to the wife of the military police officer by a number associated with Rodrigues, she was found dead at her residence in the early hours of April 10, 2025. She had been poisoned through a cake contaminated with cleaning chemicals.<br>Investigators say that after poisoning Rodrigues, Veloso Fernandez tried to frame her military police boyfriend and his wife as the perpetrators by sending warnings and threats from her girlfriend&#8217;s phone.<br>Detectives said Veloso Fernandes attempted to deceive investigators by simulating threats against herself, claiming to have received a poisoned cake, and falsely attributing one of the murders to her former lover, manipulating data to disassociate herself from the deaths and assign responsibility to others.<br>The final death in May was that of Hayder Mhazres, 21, with whom Fernandes was allegedly romantically involved. His family say Fernandes falsely claimed to be pregnant with his child and that she approached them to ask for money.<br><br></p>
