<p>Following the recommendation of a Seminole County jury, a judge sentenced a 23-year-old man from Sanford, Florida to death for murdering his pregnant girlfriend &#8220;execution-style killing,&#8221; because she refused to get an abortion as he had demanded.<br>On Friday Dec 5, the judge officially sentenced Donovan L. Faison to die for the November 2022 murder of 18-year-old Kaylin Fiengo in Sanford, which is about 25 miles north of Orlando, the office of the State Attorney <a href="https://sa18.org/press-release/judge-sentences-sanford-man-to-death-for-killing-pregnant-girlfriend-who-refused-abortion/">announced</a> on December 6.<br>Ten months after the double-homicide, Faison was arrested in August 2023 and taken to jail.<br>He was convicted in October for first-degree murder, killing an unborn child and burglary. Jurors voted <a href="https://konniemoments.com/2025/11/03/florida-jurors-vote-11-1-recommending-death-penalty-for-donovan-faison-23-convicted-of-killing-pregnant-girlfriend-kaylin-fiengo-18-for-refusing-abortion/">11-1 in October</a> recommending that Faison receive the death penalty</p>

<p>At the sentencing hearing jurors heard from prosecutors that the murder, based on several aggravating factors, meets the threshold for capital punishment, including the fact the a child younger than 12 was killed while the defendant was committing the capital felony of killing the mother, &#8220;execution-style&#8221;.<br>&#8220;You may and should consider the cold, calculated, premeditated nature of this killing,&#8221; said prosecutor Stewart Stone.<br>&#8220;No words can capture the depth of pain that comes with losing your daughter to murder,&#8221; Fiengo&#8217;s mother, Sarah Schweickert, said in her victim impact statement before sentence was handed down. <br>&#8220;Every day I wake up and face a world that no longer has her smile, her laughter, her hugs. The grief never leaves – it sits in my chest like a weight that will never go away.&#8221;</p>

<p class="has-small-font-size"><strong>In August 2023, ten months after the murder of pregnant teen <strong>Kaylin Fiengo</strong>, her boyfriend Donovan Faison, the father of her unborn child, was arrested and charged with two counts of felony homicide </strong>. <strong>The suspect was 21 at the time</strong></p>



<p>During his murder trial prosecutors told the jury that Faison &#8220;erupted&#8221; in anger when Fiengo sent him a photo of two positive pregnancy tests. <br>&#8220;The defendant accused her of lying before sending her a text that said &#8220;Abortion!!!,&#8221; prosecutors said. <br>The dad-to-be &#8220;felt pressured&#8221; because he was living with another woman who suspected him of cheating.<br>Faison later texted a buddy: &#8220;On my brothers grave, I&#8217;m gonna crop her out.&#8221; The text messages proved his intent, prosecutor Domenick Leo said in closing arguments.<br>Sanford police were patrolling on Nov. 11, 2022, and saw a vehicle backed into a parking spot at Coastline Park, cops said at the time. An officer found Fiengo in the driver&#8217;s seat of the car, dead from a gunshot wound. Police later confirmed Fiengo was pregnant and had just completed her first trimester.<br>investigation, revealed that Fiengo went to the park the night to meet Faison.<br>The parents to be had been having multiple arguments about the pregnancy, before Faison lured her to the park and shot her dead. <br>In August 2023, 10 months after his girlfriend&#8217;s murder, 21-year-old Donovan Faison was taken into custody.</p>

<p>In addition to the unborn baby, Fiengo left behind a son who was just a year old at the time of her death. Her father told NBC affiliate WESH that she took her role as a mother very seriously.<br>During the penalty phase, the jury heard testimony from Fiengo’s mother, father, aunt and grandmother. They jury also heard testimony from the killer’s family, who asked for a life sentence instead of death.<br>In Florida, at least eight of 12 jurors must vote in favor of the death penalty after finding at least one aggravating factor &#8211; of which prosecutors provided many factors in the execution of the crime that met that requirement.<br></p>
