<p class="wp-block-paragraph">What initially appeared to be a hit-and-run collision at an apartment complex in Milpitas, California on August 28, is now being investigated as part of a double-homicide involving three friends after court documents revealed allegations that the driver intentionally struck and killed a woman.<br>The main characters in the tragedy have been as Anjana Hari, 35, Ann Mary Mathew, 40, and 32-year-old Anila Baby. <br>The three women all of whom migrated to the US from the southern Indian state of Kerala, formed a close friendship after finding themselves living in the same community in the California. <br>Their close knit friendship did not diminish even after Mathew and Baby had moved out of the apartment complex. However, two of the women are now dead and the third has been charged with one count of murder, in Santa Clara County Superior Court, while On August 28, police had responded to Mill Creek Apartments on Dixon Landing Road after receiving reports that a blue SUV had struck a pedestrian and fled the scene. <br>Investigators later concluded the incident was an intentional act and began investigating it as a murder.<br>The victim, identified by friends and community members as Anjana Hari, died at the scene. <br>The driver who fled the scene after running her over witnesses identified as 32-year-old Anila Baby, a dear friend of the victim and a former resident of the apartment complex. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The criminal complaint filed by the Santa Clara County District Attorney&#8217;s Office charges Anila Baby, 32, with murder.<br>Cops say Baby ran over Hari with &#8216;malice aforethought&#8217;. Prosecutors also allege the crimes involved great violence and carried out with planning and sophistication.<br>Investigators said before the vehicular murder Baby had gone to the San Jose Residence of Mary Mathew and stabbed her to death.<br>She then phoned Hari and asked her to come down from her apartment. <br>The vehicle stopped in the apartment complex parking lot witnesses told investigators. Then the unsuspecting mother-of-one was seen approaching her friends blue Toyota Highlander smiling and waving.<br>The witness told police that when Hari moved in front of the vehicle, &#8220;the vehicle suddenly accelerated&#8221; and struck her. Continuing its acceleration, the vehicle hit three parked cars as the driver fled the complex.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">According to investigators, the suspect vehicle was later located at a Walgreens less than a mile from the apartment complex.<br>Police found Baby inside the damaged blue Toyota Highlander. <br>Court documents state she appeared &#8220;incoherent&#8221; and had &#8220;visible injuries and blood on her arms and legs.&#8221;<br>Witness accounts and physical evidence led investigators to conclude the collision was intentional. <br>A traffic officer who reviewed the scene reported finding no tire marks indicating an attempt to brake before impact.<br>In the statement of facts supporting the charge, investigators wrote that they believe Baby &#8220;intentionally&#8221; struck the victim with <br>Friends of Hari have launched a <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-vijesh-after-tragic-loss?cp_src=d&;chat_id=IW1lbWJlcnMtbDczN1dYMEtHUnpMZl9VejhNTnJIYU85LTd0TjNfcEVYRmxDUDJrQW9oQQ%3D%3D" target="_blank" rel="noopener">GoFundMe campaign</a> to support her husband following her death.<br>The suspect is being held without bond.
