<p>Unlicensed driver, Esteysi Izazaga Sanchez, 29, who allegedly kept driving after striking a man on an Oceanside sidewalk with her Pontiac sedan, severing one of his legs and propelling his body through the windshield and into her passenger seat, pled not guilty Wednesday to charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and hit-and-run causing death.<br />
The prosecutor said 69-year-old Jack Ray Tenhulzen was walking along the 4000 block of Mission Avenue about 6:30 a.m. Monday when Sanchez hit him so hard that it stripped him of some of his clothing.</p>

<p>Sanchez kept driving for at least a half-mile with the victim&#8217;s body partially inside her car and his detached leg on the trunk of her car before pulling into a cul-de-sac on Magdalena Drive. She abandoned the accident vehicle and the body and fled to her home, a block away. She was arrested by police an hour later. Sanchez still had shards of glass in her hair when she was taken into custody.</p>

<p>Two hours after the crash, the suspect had blood-alcohol levels of between .18 and .19 percent, more than twice the legal limit of .08. She admitted to the police that she had been drinking o the night. Deputy District Attorney Aimee McLeod called Sanchez &#8220;a great danger to the public.&#8217;<br />
In addition to gross vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run, she is charged with two DUI counts and driving without a license. If convicted, she faces 15 years and six months in state prison.<br />
Sanchez, was ordered held on $1.5 million bail. Customs officials have also placed an immigration &#8220;hold&#8221; on her</p>
