Seth Conrad Rich, 27, died early Sunday morning from multiple gunshot wounds sustained in an attack in Washington’s Bloomingdale neighborhood. D.C. police have found little information to explain his death.
The  voter database employee with the Democratic National Committee was shot and killed a block from his Washington, D.C. home. Seth worked for the DNC to help voters identify and locate polling locations.
Based on findings so far, there is no immediate indication that robbery was a motive in the attack, as the his watch, wallet, credit cards were not taken police said, but it has not been ruled out as a possibility.
For now, police have  no suspects, no motive and no witnessess in Rich’s murder.
Joel Rich, the victim’s father, says that police suggested his son may have been killed in the course of a robbery gone bad, although nothing was stolen from the victim.

Police officers patrolling the area responded to the gun shots around 4:20 a.m. using the ShotSpotter system to find the location of the shooting. Rich was taken to a local hospital where he died a short time later. The spate of shootings and robberies in recent times has  rattled residents of the Bloomingdale neighborhood where Rich lived in a townhouse with several roommates. Expressing this sentiments, Bloomingdale Civic Association head Teri Janine Quinn told reporters  “No one wants to be able to feel they can’t go home at night,”  “Nobody wants to hear that someone was murdered blocks from their home.”
The neighborhood, located on the outskirts of Howard University in NW,  D.C., has experienced a quadrupling of armed robberies in 2016— two times more than at this same time last year. Old friends and colleagues remembered Seth and affectionately by community members in Omaha, Neb. where the Creighton University graduate was educated and raised. “Seth was an amazing young man,” said Rabbi Steven Abraham of local synagogue Beth-El where the Rich family are active, multi-generational members. “He devoted his life to helping others secure their right to vote. He was a mensch.”|DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz expressed appreciation for the young ’s commitment to civic service.
“Seth Rich was a dedicated, selfless public servant who worked tirelessly to protect the most sacred right we share as Americans — the right to vote,” she said in statement released by the DNC.

Jane Kleeb, Nebraska’s incoming Democratic Party chair, said in a post on Facebook that Rich had “a smile no one will ever forget. … Our love and respect goes out to his family and friends.”
Rich graduated from Omaha Central High School and Creighton University.
He worked on campaigns for Sen. Ben Nelson, Scott Kleeb and Tom White. Rich also worked for state Sen. Heath Mello of Omaha.
