Alabama teen Jesse Holton, has been charged as an adult in the slaying of his parents, Mike and April Holton, both 37 reports the Montgomery Advertiser.

Authorities say the 17-year-old high school senior killed both his parents, after they returned to find their home “trashed” by party goers the teen invited into their home. The father, Mike Holton, was the mayor of their town Eclectic in Alabama.
Elmore County Sheriff, Bill Franklin, says he plans to charge the teen as an adult in the slaying of his parents.

According to sheriff Bill Franklin, the couple who have two other children, were apparently cross, Sunday when they saw their home in shambles following a party their son hosted that may have seen the use of drugs. Mike Holton called the sheriff, and an officer arrived at the house to find that the father had handcuffed the son.

The deputy spoke with the family and collected evidence from the party scene that included a pipe allegedly used to smoke marijuana. The senior Holton informed the deputy he planned to sign a juvenile warrant against this son.
“Our deputy left and everything was calm,” Sheriff Franklin said. “Then about 20 minutes later we get another 911 call. The 17-year-old went to a next door neighbor and told him something like ‘there’s a problem over here.'”
A deputy dispatched to the house found the former mayor dead of a gunshot wound to the head and the woman near death, also from a head wound. April Holton died at a hospital Monday evening. Both were 37.
“From the first call, our deputy got the impression that Mike Holton had enough and was trying to discipline his son,” an admitted drug addict, Franklin said.
“The 17-year-old told us he was handcuffed in the back. Obviously we feel he slipped out of the handcuffs, or got the key somehow to remove the handcuffs, before he did indeed shoot his mother and father.”

Jesse Holton however, denies shooting either of his parents. According to the teen, his father shot his mother before turning the gun on himself. A narrative authorities say, that does not match the evidence.

Sheriff Franklin observed that “With the angles of the wounds and the entry and exit points of the wounds, there is just no way Mike Holton could have shot himself” .
“April suffered defensive wounds to her hands, where it appeared she threw her hands up as if shield herself,” Franklin said.
“The bullet went through one of her fingers and then into her head. So there was no way April could have shot herself either. The 17-year-old’s story just didn’t add up.”
Jesse Holton admitted to detectives he gets “easily agitated” if he doesn’t have access to marijuana and Adderall, and witnesses said he has anger problems.
“He hasn’t shown any emotion at all,” Franklin said. “Most people would be bawling their eyes out if their parents had been killed.”
A local political stalwart, Mike Holton was mayor of Eclectic from 2012 to 2014. He stepped down to spend more time with family. Meanwhile, the couple’s two younger children have been placed  with relatives.
