A dragnet of federal and local law enforcement agents, Saturday found a  6-day-old newborn who was abducted after her mother was murdered inside their home in Wichita, Kansas in the early hours of Saturday. Sofia Abarca was found alive and well hundreds of miles away in Dallas, Texas. Two suspects are currently in custody for the abduction of the baby was found alive on Saturday morning, KWCH 12 reports.
Wichita Police Chief Gordon Ramsay announced at 4.30 a.m. on Saturday that a search warrant led authorities to the suspects at a home in Dallas, roughly 360 miles from where the baby was taken in Wichita, Kansas.
“This is the best possible outcome to a very sad case,” Chief Ramsay said.
Police had been searching for the child, Sofia Victoria Gonzalez Abarca, after the shooting death of her 27-year-old mother, Laura Abarca-Nogueda, on Thursday inside her home. The suspects know the slain woman, but Ramsay did not elaborate on the nature of their relationship.

The disappearance of ‘Baby Sofia’ on Thursday prompted federal, state and local authorities to make a desperate plea to the public for information. On Friday, authorities asked residents to report anyone who suddenly acquired a newborn or is purchasing large amounts of formula or baby clothing.
“We have no information. That’s why I’m here, just pleading for information,” Ramsay told the public on Friday. “We’re pleading the the community, asking everybody to help us find Baby Sofia. There’s no doubt she is missing and in danger.”
Sofia’s father, the murder victim’s live-in boyfriend, came home Thursday afternoon to discover Abarca-Nogueda dead and his infant daughter gone. Police quickly ruled him out as a suspect, early on in the case.
However by Friday evening, investigators identified a possible suspect in the homicide  of the new mother and abduction of her  6-days-old infant, “established probable cause that (a) suspect abducted Sophia and fled to Dallas.

The FBI deployed a team specializing in child abductions and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children said it dispatched members of its “Team Adam” — retired law enforcement officers — to assist in their search for Sofia.
Chief Ramsey said Sofia is expected to be reunited with her dad soon,adding that while Sophia has been found, Ramsay says, “this is still very much an active investigation,” with questions yet to be answered, especially what motivated the shooting death of Sophia’s mother, Laura Abarca-Nogueda.
“This is a complicated case and we want to make sure we get it right,” Ramsay says.The Wichita PD Chief says while the story has “the best possible outcome,” the case is tragic. Ramsay praised the immense contribution of the FBI analysts and Dallas police. He said his department also appreciates “community patience and support through this difficult investigation.”
