A Florida man told police he murdered his girlfriend’s cousin and then had sex with her body just for the thrill of the gruesome deed.
Christopher Shows, 21, was arrested Monday for the Dec.7 shooting death of Amanda Suarez, a 25-year-old mother of four.
Amanda Suarez, was allegedly shot in the head by Shows who is an acquaintance at her home near Okeechobee, Florida.
The twisted reason Shows gave cops for his action was even more baffling than his gruesome act: “In his confession, it was just he wanted to know what murder was about. Unfortunately, it was no rhyme no reason. He just wanted to know what murder felt like,” according to the county’s sheriff-elect, Noel Stephen
The victim’s 2-year-old daughter was home at the time of the alleged attack.
The violence unfolded sometime after Suarez allowed Shows, who was dating her cousin, turned up at her home and allegedly, made sexual advances toward his host and when she refused him. After Suarez turned him down, Shows became angry and left the residence to retrieve a .22 rifle from his truck and shot the victim who was attempting to flee. He dragged the injured woman dragged her into the kitchen and positioned her in the form of a crucifixion before having sex with her, although it is not clear whether the rape happened postmortem or while she lay dying.
Cops were called to the apartment after a family member discovered the body. Police noticed Suarez’s cellphone was missing from the scene, but soon tracked it down to the side of a nearby road.
Digging through the recovered phone, investigators found a photo of Shows sleeping on Suarez’s couch saved on the phone, which was covered in blood. Police believe Shows ditched the phone before burning his clothes in an attempt to get rid of any evidence linking him to the gruesome killing.
Police say Shows had visited her home prior to the tragic incident, while he was dating Amanda’s cousin, which is why Suarez’s large guard dog did not bark when he turned up at her home on the day of the attack.
Shows faces criminal charges, including first-degree premeditated murder, armed burglary of an occupied residence with a battery, desecration of a body, attempted sexual battery, grand theft and tampering with evidence.
Suarez’s family has set up a
GoFundMe page to help cover funeral expenses.
The children and their father are now living with paternal grandparents and the children are getting counseling, according to a statement released by the family.
