An Orlando, Fla., police officer was fatally shot outside of a Walmart store Monday, and a manhunt for the shooter is underway, according to authorities and local media reports.
The shooting occurred after 7:15 a.m. near a Walmart store in Pine Hills, which is located west of Orlando. A second officer was killed in a crash while p and deputies scrambled to find him
The first casualty was Master Sgt. Debra Clayton, a mother of two and 17-year veteran of the  Orlando police department, who was shot and killed on Princeton Street as she tried to detain the fugitive.
A few hours later, an Orange County motorcycle deputy who was part of the effort to capture the suspect, was involved in a fatal crash.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office identified Markeith Loyd, 41, as the shooting suspect. Loyd is wanted in connection with the December killing of his pregnant ex-girlfriend.
Loyd allegely, shot Sade Dixon his 24-year-old pregnant ex on the night of December 13 outside her home in Orange County, Florida.
The mother of two was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend, with her kids in the home, the victim’s brother, Ronald Steward, 26, was also shot and critically injured while coming to her rescue.
Monday morning, Loyd was seen fleeing the shooting scene, after he fired at a deputy who was not injured. He then carjacked a vehicle before running off, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

A witness to the incident said Loyd rwas wearing a security uniform when he shot the officer: [The gunman] was an average looking dude, he walked by me, had a security vest and everything,” witness James Herma n told ABC affiliate WFTV.
“I was walking down the sidewalk, right past the officer, and I heard her tell him to stop, or whatever, and he shot her. He shot her down.”

The Orlando Sentinel reported that officers and sheriff’s deputies escorted the ambulance to the hospital, while traffic in the area was diverted and area schools were placed on lockdown following the shooting.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement records show that Loyd has multiple convictions, including one for first-degree battery and another for open carrying of weapons.
The suspect was arrested in a drug-related shooting in 1996, but first-degree murder charges were dropped after a key witness changed their story.
He spent served years in a state prison for battery on a law enforcement officer before being released in 2002.
In 2011, he was sentenced to 27 months in prison for possessing two ice pick-like homemade weapons while in federal custody. He’s also faced weapons, aggravated battery, trespassing and drug charges, according to the records.
