A suspected gang leader’s family came under fire in a violent drug-related incident in southern Spain, leaving three dead, including his mother-in-law, pregnant sister, and a teenager boy, according to police reports.
The late-night drive-by shooting happened on Sunday, August 16, 2026, in Isla Cristina, a coastal town of 21,000 people in Huelva province, in the southwest of Spain.
Four people including an unborn child were killed in the suspected revenge attack linked to the drug trade in Andalusia region of Spain, the authorities said on Monday.
Two masked suspects on a motorbike opened fire outside a residential home in the El Rocío neighborhood, leaving the victims lying in the street and could not be revived by rescuers.
The gunmen fled on their bike which they later tried to burn in a nearby pine forest.
Among those killed was a 39-year-old woman in her eighth month of pregnancy, her mother-in-law, 62, and a 16-year-old boy.
The woman’s unborn child also did not survive.

Two other people were injured in the attack, with one listed in critical condition.
Local media say it was a score-settling between two crime families – the Baba and Moriña Clans, both major players in the drug trade in the Andalusian region, in southwest Spain.
The two women killed reportedly, were the mother and sister of ‘El Baba’, the gang leader being investigated in connection with a fatal shoot-out in in the Torrejón neighborhood of Huelva in September 2024.
Since then, the Baba and Moriña families have been involved in several reported episodes of violence, including a previous shooting at the same area in Isla Cristina.
The female victims from the weekend shooting are reportedly close relatives of the alleged perpetrator of that killing – his sister and his mother.
The connection between teenage victim has varied with some sources reporting he is the gang leader’s nephew.
Other local reports suggest the 16-year-old had no connection to either of the two women or to the suspected revenge attack, that he simply “happened to be passing by” when the shots were fired.
