An autopsy report made public Monday in the killing of 10-year-old Victoria Martens confirms that the cause of death was strangulation and that she had been sexually abused prior to her rape and murder.
The report said she had the sexually transmitted disease human papillomavirus, also known as HPV, which forensic pathologists cite as evidence that she suffered sexual abuse before the night of her death on Aug. 23.

Her mother, Michelle Martens, 35, apparently told police she enjoyed watching her daughter be raped and claims she watched her boyfriend Fabian Gonzales, 32 and his cousin, Jessica Kelly, 32, abuse and kill Victoria.
Michelle Martens also allegedly had sex with Gonzales 20 minutes after the murder.
The Albuquerque Journal said an autopsy report showed Victoria had human papillomavirus (HPV) at the time of her death, suggesting she had suffered sexual abuse before her murder.
Michelle Martens allegedly, admitted she offered her daughter online to paedophiles who wanted to rape her. Martens told police she had watched Gonzales and Kelley rape her daughter at least three other occassions before the day she was killed.
In a related development, the autopsy reports found that Victoria was drugged. The little girl did not have methamphetamine in her system, contradicting earlier reports from Martens that she was given the drug to relax her.
Police found Victoria’s body chopped up and wrapped in a burning blanket.

The autopsy said the dismemberment occurred after her death.
“The sharp force injuries described … showed no vital response – a finding in keeping with being inflicted post-mortem,” the report said.
Martens faces charges of kidnapping and child abuse resulting in death; Gonzales faces those same charges as well as child rape.
Kelley has been charged with kidnapping, child abuse resulting in death and child rape.
Martens initially shifted the blame, claiming that she and Gonzales had been attacked by Kelley in the night, and had no idea what had happened to Victoria.

“Jessica comes into our bedroom and asks me if I believe in God. She kept hitting me, hitting me, hitting me, punching,” she said.
As she fled the scene, Martens claimed, Kelley shouted: “You daughter’s dead!”
However her verison of events morphed during the course of the police interviews. She tlater told cops she and Gonzales had left Victoria alone with Kelley, and the girl had died after taking some meth she found.
