A scorned woman tricked her boyfriend into murdering his mistress and her family by convincing him a cartel was after him, police say.
Nathaniel Huey Jr. slaughtered his lover Zoraida Bartolomei, 32, her husband Alberto Rolon, 38, and the couple’s sons Adriel, 9 and Diego, 7, after his wife used a series of online aliases to convince him to do so, it is alleged.
The September 2023 bloodbath in Romeoville, Illinois, was triggered by Huey’s fiancee Ermalinda Polomo convincing him he was being pursued by a Mexican and Bulgarian criminal organization.
Polomo managed to convince Huey that his lover Bartolomei – who he met at work – was a ‘mole’ for the gangsters leaking information about him, it is claimed.
So successful was her con that Huey Jr. shot his lover and her family dead.
days after the quadruple-homicide, Huey and Polomo died in a murder-suicide during a police chase that ended in a fireball crash in Oklahoma.
The two fugitives from Chicago were fleeing, after Huey had been being identified as the suspect in the killings.

Zoraida Bartolomei, as well as her husband Alberto Rolon and their boys Adriel, 10, and Diego, seven, were shot in their home in the Chicago suburb of Romeoville, in Nov 2023, after Palomo convinced Huey that Bartolomei was a ‘mole’ within the cartel who was planning to attack him, Cops said
According to reported court documents, Palomo begun her elaborate murder plot after discovering Huey was having a ‘romantic relationship’ with Bartolomei, who had met at their workplace at an engineering company.
Without Huey’s knowledge, Palomo then created a series of fake social media accounts pretending to be owned by the fictitious criminal organization, police said.
She then allegedly contacted Huey and Bartolomei, threatening to expose their relationship.
According to police reports first revealed by NBC5, Palomo continued to convince Huey that ‘he was under constant surveillance by the organization and that the leaders questioned his loyalty and trustworthiness.’
‘Based on years of communication, Nathaniel’s response seems to indicate he fully believed the information being fed to him by Ermalinda, but did not know Ermalinda was the person he was communicating with,’ the report stated.
The plot escalated two days before the murders, when Palomo convinced her fiancée that his mistress was a ‘mole’ within the fictitious cartel, and was ‘planning to attack him.’

Nathaniel Huey Jr police said, entered the family’s home through an unlocked kitchen door, before gunning down his mistress, her husband and the couple’s two young children, before attempting to stage the scene like a ‘break-in’

Alleged mastermind Palomo allegedly tricked her much younger partner Nathaniel Huey into killing his married mistress, Zoraida Bartolomei, her husband and children by creating bogus social media profiles to convince him he was being targeted by the cartel
Using the cartel alias, Palomo then plotted with Huey and convinced him he could avoid this imminent attack by killing Bartolomei first.
‘They researched the neighborhood to locate cameras, planned how to get in and out of the house, and learned the house behind Zoraida’s was vacant,’ the report said.
The report claimed they discussed how many family members lived in the home, including Bartolomei’s two young sons, and the ‘number and type of dogs in the house.’
‘Ermalinda tells Nathaniel to cause damage to make the scene appear to be a burglary committed by kids,’ the report said. ‘Ermalinda reassured Nathaniel by saying, ‘Many murders go unsolved.”
Although police said Palomo orchestrated the murders under fake aliases, it is alleged that she drove Huey to the family’s home and waited in the car while he carried out the murders.
It is not explained why Palomo was directly involved in the murder plot, with Huey allegedly still believing her online aliases to be genuine.
It is unclear why he drove her to the home and if he’d told her he was being threatened – not knowing she was actually allegedly behind it all.

After murdering Bartolomei, Rolon and their two sons Adriel, 9, and Diego, 7, Huey ‘spray painted the walls in an attempt to throw investigators off by creating the appearance of kids committing a senseless crime’, police said
According to the police reports, Huey tried to make the scene look like a break-in, and was able to enter the home through an unlocked door to the kitchen at around 3pm.
Rolon then encountered Huey as he went to investigate the noise in his home. Huey shot the homeowner several times.
Huey moved to a bedroom where Bartolomei and her children were, and fired a number of shots through the door, striking his mistress several times.
He then entered the room and killed her two young sons, Adriel, 9, and Diego, 7, before he spray painted the walls in an attempt to ‘throw investigators off,’ by staging the crime scene ‘to look like the kids committing a senseless crime’, the report said.

Police after discovering the dead bodies following a welfare check, at the time said they found ‘Evidence showing a nexus between our suspect and the victims as well as possible motive’
The couple’s three dogs were also killed in the bloodbath.
After slaying the family, Huey allegedly began contacting Palomo’s fake accounts again, expressing concern that he had forgotten to take the victim’s phones from the scene.
The Romeoville Police Department said they discovered the murders the next day following a welfare check, and said the family had been shot a total of 20 times.

Detectives identified Huey’s vehicle through Ring doorbell footage, and he was interviewed the morning after the murders after he went to work.

Huey allegedly confessed to the murders to his mother as cops closed in, and two days after the murders Palomo was reported missing by her family as the couple fled.
Police went on to track the couple to Catoosa, Oklahoma, with CCTV catching them smiling as they exited a Walmart.
When cops approached them in the parking lot, the couple fled in their vehicle, leading to a police chase that ended when Huey crashed the car.
Although the vehicle exploded into a fiery wreck, investigators said Huey and Palomo actually died from gunshot wounds fired by Huey during the crash.

Chased by cops, Huey tried to evade authorities after his vehicle was tracked to Catoosa, Oklahoma, but he crashed the vehicle and it caught on fire. In the wreck, [photo], Huey allegedly fatally shot Palomo, then himself
‘Nathaniel shot Ermalinda in the head killing her. He shot himself under his chin but that gunshot did not kill him so he shot himself again in the head. Both died,’ the police report said.
In a statement after the shocking motive was revealed this week, Romeoville Police Chief Brant Hromadka said the shocking conclusion does not end the tragedy of the family’s deaths.
‘The tragic deaths of a young family, including two young children, will forever impact the surviving family and those that investigated this case,’ he said.
‘Nothing can prepare a person for such an incident, and nothing can justify such a senseless act of violence. Although finalized, the finality of this case unfortunately does not mean closure for so many continuing to grieve.’
