<div class="simpleShare">Nassau County police charged a man with murder in the “targeted” killings of his mother, his sister and another woman in Hempstead, officials said Saturday.</div>

The three Long Island women were beaten to death early Saturday inside a blood-spattered Hempstead home, with a fourth victim somehow escaping the carnage alive, police said.<br />
Bobby Vanderhall, 34, was arrested on three charges of murder in the early morning deaths of Lynn Reichenbach-Vanderhall, his 58-year-od mother; Melissa Vanderhall, his sister; and Janel Simpson, [photo, left], who family members say was visiting the home.<br />
Police said the three women were found dead of “blunt force trauma” at a home on Perry Street about 2:15 a.m.<br />
A fourth woman who was assaulted remains hospitalized, police said. Bobby Vanderhall faces a charge of attempted murder in that assault, police said.<br />
Devastated relatives of the slain women stood weeping outside the suburban home as police announced they were hunting a “person of interest” in the brutal triple homicide.<br />
Family members identified the victims as Lynn Reichenbach-Vanderhall, her daughter Melissa and friend Janel Simpson.<br />
Police said all three were killed by blunt force trauma to their bodies, and the killer specifically targeted the victims.</p>

<p>“You can see the blood inside, you can see the handprints,” said a woman who identified herself as Simpson’s sister-in-law. “The door is wide open.”<br />
Police said Vanderhall had been kicked out of the house by his mother and was homeless.<br />
&#8220;He became enraged, went to the garage and obtained a large hammer, it&#8217;s called a framing hammer,&#8221; said Fitzpatrick. &#8220;With this framing hammer he broke through the basement door of the residence.&#8221;<br />
Police said the suspect went to the living room and assaulted his mother, then attacked the other women.<br />
The other woman who was visiting was injured but managed to escape and hide in a neighboring backyard until help could arrive. She is in stable condition at a local hospital.<br />
One wailing relative collapsed to the ground upon reaching the crime scene. The street was blocked off by police.<br />
The unidentified woman who escaped the slaughter was listed in stable condition at a Long Island hospital. The other three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.</p>

<p>“We are looking at a person of interest right now,” said Nassau County police Lt. Richard LeBrun. “This is basically a targeted event, not a random event.”<br />
There was no word about the murder weapon or any possible motive in the triple killing.<br />
Cops were called to the two-story home on Perry St. around 2:15 a.m. for a reported assault — and arrived to find the gruesome scene.</p>

<p>Victim Janel Simpson, 29, attended SUNY-Buffalo State and was visiting a friend when she was attacked, according to her mother Wendy Simpson.<br />
“I would like to express my deep, heartfelt, sincere condolences to the victims that were tragically killed this morning,” said LeBrun.</p>
