A judge in Ohio,  Joseph J. Bruzzese Jr. was shot at the Jefferson County Courthouse and rushed to hospital by medical helicopter, Monday morning.
The Jefferson County Common Pleas  judge was ambushed and shot at the courthouse where he works,WTOV 9 News reports.
Addressing the incident, Steubenville City Manager James Mavromatis said Judge Joseph J. Bruzzese Jr. was ambushed and shot outside the courthouse by a gunmn.
The judge is going to work, these subjects were waiting for them. He comes up, shoots at the judge. The judge returns fire,” Mavromatis said.
“We also have a probation officer that was behind the judge. He returns fire as he is shot at. The subject is deceased that he shot at.

One of the would be assailants was hit suspect  probation officer who returned fire, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bruzzese who was hit by the suspect was taken away for treatment by medical helicopter. The judge was talking after the shots were fired and is said to be in stable condition according to City Manager, Mavromatis said.
Judge Bruzzese’s family is aware of the situation.
The suspected shooter was killed by a probation officer who returned fire.
The second person was taken into custody reportedly, had been riding in the same car as the shooter, but it’s not clear how he is connected to the incident.
Authorities have not released the names of the suspects, but said both men done prison time.

So far, authorities have not released a motive for the shooting.
In a brief update on Facebook, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said the courthouse would remain closed until further notice.
The office declined further comment when contacted Monday.
Joseph J. Bruzzese Jr. has been a Jefferson County Common Pleas judge since 1996. His latest term lasts until February 2021.
